I'll bet these idiots are elite whites with much more education than sense -- the very sort George Orwell was talking about when he mentioned that some things were so foolish only an intellectual would believe it. (Ayn Rand seems to have had a very similar view.)
I gather that the actual causes of increasing early death among working class whites are obesity and opioids (neither of which have anything to do with racialist politics) and cultural problems that leave them bereft of hope (which are also a reason for the excessive opioid use).

You would be partially wrong. Boyd is a black woman. I believe Metzl is a Jewish leftist, but I could be wrong. Whatever their races, both concentrate on "Gender and Race" studies which is a give-away for leftist bias. I have little doubt that it is not a question of having "more education that sense," rather one is a political attack and the other is a racial and political attack on white people i.e. it is malicious not silly.

Why Bernie Sanders's Praise of Fidel Castro MattersMost of use here have long known that it is very troubling that the evil people of the Left have been mainstreamed. Now the Democratic Party, without too much smoke and mirrors, is the party of dictator-apologists. I wonder if they can push this across the finish line.

If Bolshie Bernie were a genuine democratic socialist looking to Denmark and other Scandinavian countries as role models, his heroes would be the politicians who set up those systems, not Fidel, Che, and Mao. And if his apologists think his views on Castro represent nuance, then they should be asked to defend someone who points out that despite Hitler's crimes, he opposed smoking, was something of an environmentalist (more so than most leaders of that era), and (personally) a vegetarian. Does all of that -- and the autobahns -- make up for the concentration and extermination camps and aggressive wars?

This is the advantage of the Big Lie technique. So many people fall for it that many in the GOP think they have to do something about the "problem". Admittedly, planting more trees is a good idea anyway, but that's about it.

Here’s a great article by Lars Walker that sounds like it came from Taki’s Magazine: Message to the Young: Beware the GrooveAlso, to my mind, this is the model of a good essay. It says something interesting, it relates it to real life (it’s not just an intellectual show-off piece), and it’s true. Add "concise" as well.
I love this part of a comment from the peanut gallery:

MAD Magazine once had a cartoon about a teacher informing her class that there were a couple of expressions they should avoid using. "One is 'groovy' and the other is 'far out'." One student what the expressions she was warning them not to use were. (Today it's hard to imagine a teacher doing that, but this was half a century ago.)
Actually, I would have assumed "groovy" was simply another term for "really good". I recall it especially, I think, from the "Senator Bobby" version of "Wild Thing".

Definition of Groovy. The central point of that article isn't the definition of groovy but his very concise evaluation of the Zeitgeist, then and now, that is the cause of so much ruin:

Ooof. I knew it was bad in California (and elsewhere on the Left Coast), but I had no idea how bad. So far these Sorosite prosecutors mainly infest the really large cities, but sooner or later they'll come to places such as Jefferson County, KY and Dallas County, TX (if that hasn't already been hit).
Way back when, I read an article noting the odd leftist combination of anarchism (as in their elimination over time of law enforcement) and totalitarianism. Thus, a thief is not treated as a criminal, but someone who challenges authority by holding heterodox views or disobeying a Fuehrerbefehl will still face serious punishment.
It's worse than Stalinism, in a sense. They punished street crimes and such as well as political crimes, whereas the Sorosite left ignores the former to go after the latter.

Here is another piece documenting how a 26 year member of the Democratic Bolshevik Party has been thrown out because of his stance on abortion/infanticide. Have you figured it out yet?

This is atrocious, but unfortunately unsurprising. I've called the Demagogues the Evil Party for a long time (as well as the Plunderbund and IngSoc). There's a reason the last time I ever voted for any Demagogue in the general election was a handful in the local elections in 1981. I will never do so again as long as I'm the one casting my vote.

Both worth a read to get an idea of what's going on. Fertility and Humanity's FailureThe Kids are Not AlrightThis is good too: I've been harping on that "negative identities" idea for over a decade. It's clear that the Left is against and not for. I think this attitude has infected the right as well.

Both pieces are very interesting, but neither holds out much hope for the mass of humanity.
I think Dreher's son misses the point when he says:
The "horrible suburbanized life" may have something to do with our problems, but there is more to it than that. His statement, "We could all be chiseled muscle hunks and just as miserable as we were before" misses a fundamental fact. Biology plays a big part in how we interact with people. I guarantee you that "chiseled muscle hunks" would be pushed by their testosterone to get out and interact sexually more than flabby low T sloughs. The hunks would also be more attractive to females, even fat female slobs.
As to Marxism's role in all of this, note that it is much easier to subjugate an atomized society consisting of fat, lazy, mind-numbed slobs than to subjugate a united society consisting of viral men, loving mothers and active people who interact with one another.

I thought the same thing. His "Marxist soy boy ray" marked him as a non-serious thinker. And although guys (and girls) do spend way too much time with their nose stuck in a screen, that's just an easy observation in order to avoid all the ancillary issues. And the yute in that second link really went to town articulating those issues. Maybe he's right. Maybe he's wrong. But to my ear, he sounded like he had his finger on the pulse.
Maybe like Rod, it will take his son a few decades before he can overcome his own bullshit.
