My wife and I ventured out today for our regular Sunday lunch. It was the first time either of us had been out in a week. We had, over the last week, about a foot of global warming and as designated old people had enough supplies to last out the storm(s). The main streets in town were free of ice and snow, however side streets were another story. The street in front of our house is shaded from the sun and about 100 yards of it was a little slick. All-in-all it was not uncomfortable but friends in Texas suffered from power outages and without power forced air heating was no good. It is in the mid 40s today and rain is forecast for this evening which will melt most of the global warming from streets.
When you point out that 50 years ago the main focus of the climate change nazis was global cooling and the coming ice age it is amazing how quickly they change the subject. It seems we fixed global cooling by doing nothing. A majority of life's problems can be solved by doing nothing, including KFF, but the crisis mongers and fear porn addicts can not stand the inaction.

LOL. So did we a week or two ago. Yesterday I read the free Kindle portion of Roger L. Simon’s I Know Best: How Moral Narcissism Is Destroying Our Republic, If It Hasn't Already. He uses as an example the attitudes regarding “climate change.” This is a more formalized and complete (presumably) look at the kind of moral preening that I’ve taken a scattershot approach at. I don’t think I’ll buy the book because he pretty much lays out the case in the free sample. The rest would just be details and the lengthening of the subject to justify a book. His definition of “moral narcissism” is pretty clear: It’s about the regard for self with no thought at all of the consequences of one’s beliefs or actions. This helps to explain everything from the wreckage wrought by the great “care” for the homeless as well as the crackpot idea of universal salvation. Little or no regard is given to the actual consequences of the idea or action. It’s about moral preening. If it makes me look superior, that’s the point. Anyway, I could have started a thread on this book but I really don’t plan on reading it (and I would have to shell out twelve bucks to buy it). The author states there is nothing wrong with a little self-regard and is quite obviously necessary. But when we make an idol of the these, we bring destruction. He doesn’t exempt conservatives (nor should he), although his examples are a little weak. But I think there’s a whole lot of moral preening in regards to Trump as well. Libertarians aren’t spared either, and good-god, there is loads of moral preening in that position as well. Prudence is now fully out of fashion. Everywhere. Not just amongst liberals. My nephew has a good (government) job now and is probably making more money than I am. It was his birthday yesterday. I gave him one word of advice that went something like this: You know how you read almost every other day about some movie or rock star who has found the other edge of success, has blown all his money, and now has nothing? While you are making good money, put aside a good portion of it in a money market account or something. Don’t just spend it as you earn it. You’d think I would have gotten an “attaboy” from either the mother or the father. Nope. Not a word of “Good advice, Uncle Brad.” So that’s the lay of the land. Eat,. drink, moral preen, and be merry. There is no way out of this. I can see the United States becoming a vassal state of China at some point. I see nothing that can halt this scenario or something similar to it.

Believe it or not, it was already obvious in the early-mid 1970s that the USA was on a downward slope. It became clear that China was on the road to world leadership in the late 1970s. As I used to say, I hedged my bets, I married a Chinese woman. That said, the CCP has pulled this off faster than I figured possible. Of course, they had the active assistance of our elites. I have long advised people that they should never expect a "thank you" for any good deed they may perform. That way, they will not be disappointed most of the time and will be pleasantly surprised when someone actually shows gratitude.

I had no idea of this problem in Oregon. Why have we heard only about Texas? Power Outage

One of my suppliers was relating to me about what was going on down there. Up here, we got snow. Down there, they got an ice storm. My friend lost power and the prognosis was for early March. Luckily, I think he got his power back today.
I have no doubt of the incompetence of Oregon government. But what I’m told is that literally dozens of trees came down on many rural roads. The heroes are the phone, gas, and/or power companies who have mostly had a hand in clearly this away. Luckily, the weather warmed soon after the initial storm which certainly helped things.
Up here in Washington State, it was a non-event for the most part. We got from 8 to 12 inches of snow on a weekend with Monday as a holiday. By the time Tuesday rolled around, everything was completely clear just from the melt.
Our office is on a steep hill. The city promptly plowed it. I believe this happens because it’s on a main bus route. But basically our city is a collection of hills. Without the plowing, nobody is going anywhere, for the most part.

A very interesting piece on how the world is getting greener, literally. The Sahara Desert has shrunk by about 700,000 square kilometers over the last 30 years. How dare that bad CO2 cause such a thing? More vegetation across the globe

The Sahara
At one time the Sahara was a savanah of grass, elephants, antelope, lions and trees. Some day it will be again, with or more likely, without help from the climate Nazis.

So you don't think the elites are trying to control everyone? If you exceed your Co2 limit, we will cut off your credit Please remember, they are also trying to do away with all cash transactions as well. This KFF fraud has just been a trial run for what the "Build back better" crowd have in store for us.

I am so glad that climate change is coming. We had about 1 inch of global warming on the streets and yards over the weekend and the temperature was a balmy 10 F. I saw on the news that I-95 in Virginia is currently stuck with over a foot of warming and some automobiles have been stuck in the frozen sunshine for over 24 hours.

We went through a recent spate of cold weather and snow on the Left Coast. Nothing particularly unusual. 19 degrees for a while and 4 inches of snow (but some areas got much more). But, goodness gracious, I am so looking forward to global warming. Even as a native of the Left Coast, I'm honestly getting tired of the rain and cold.
I know we are weather wimps on the Northwest. And most people can't drive in the snow if only because snow is relatively rare here. But one must understand that even a little snow makes most of the roads undrivable without studded tires or four-wheel drive. We are a very very hilly place.

We got down to 19 overnight a few days back. This morning it was about 29. I'm ok with that as long as I am indoors. At least the sun is out here.

It's in the 50's now and rain rain rain. My outdoor thermometer say 59 but I don't think it's as warm as that.

It's 36 here. West and Southwest a bit cloudy. North and Northeast not so much.

I hope this isn't behind a paywall when I transfer it to ST. In any case, this is a short, but interesting piece on the dishonest reporting on "shrinking" Antarctica. Where's Noah?

I wonder if it got any warmer in Fayetteville.
"Climate Change" is not a scientific phenomenon. It's a social phenomenon exactly the same with masks. People wear masks as a form of showing "social goodness" or "social sensitivity." But they have zip to do with halting the spread of KFF.
It is considered meritorious to "raise the alarm" and shout doom-and-gloom. A buddy of mine (generally conservative) really woke me up to what this was about a few years ago. To him, an excess of "caution" was considered good, because at least rivers and lakes were being cleaned up, etc.
The idea of any costs to this hysteria, as well as the damage it does to truth itself, was not considered by him. So the hysteria of "climate change" is seen as something that is beneficial . . . if it at least leads to lakes and rivers being cleaned up. And my buddy was a big-time fisherman.
So everyone has a point-of-view. It's not wrong to appreciate lakes and rivers being cleaned up. (And there is zero need to believe in "climate change" in order to do so.) But there is a bigger game here. And the motivations behind it have almost nothing to do with cleaning anything up. It's about increasing the power of the (mainly) socialist, anti-capitalist elites over our economy.
Frankly, we'd be much better off with a few dirty rivers if it means our economy has not been captured by Marxists.
It's revealing just how uninformed most people are. Despite the "deniers" being cast as "anti-science," the goofballs pushing this stuff have little to no idea that, well, the weather is changeable, short-term or long-term. It's even quite possible that they don't know that it is natural for glaciers to melt, despite what the climate is doing overall.
Freedom will not easily survive the stupidity that is rampant now.

"Don't confuse me with the facts. I know what I think," is the motto of those useful idiots who abound in very large numbers.
The actual people pushing the agenda know very well what is going on and continue with their diabolical plan.

I didn't know that the New York Times would admit anything. They must have an angle that I'm not aware of.
Think of it this was: You could be married to that lady. Chances are, somebody is. Feel good about that.
