So you are saying a large percentage of the voting public will be surprised?

For all his faults I do believe he was sincere in his thoughts and reasoning. Just wrong on many of them.

Oh, who am I fooling?
Righteousness is a heady medicine. And according to the left and atheist elites (such as Hitchens), "Religion poisons everything," which is the subhead to one of his books. They are so full of themselves that they think their own shit doesn't stink.
And this is why Hitchens can be thought of no better than a stopped clock which is right twice a day. I mean, it doesn't take a philosopher to understand the history of Islam and what that fascist totalitarian ideology means and always ends up doing. And, no, Christopher, Islam is not just a religion. Religion is just one part of it. Islam is totalitarian in that it entails (and demands) particular economic, political, social, and religious views.
Hitchens was a prime example of how an "intellectual" could be as blind as a bat. Coming off a century wherein over 400 million people were murdered by atheist regimes, he saw no distinction between religions, nor did he see the completely obvious circumstance which is that it's not religion that poisons things but bad doctrine that does...whether in the guise of a religion, proper, or not.
Hitchens was, at heart, a rather non-thinking atheist kook...that is, a truly Modern Man. I've read some of his stuff. And each paragraph is so full of nonsense that it would take entire chapters to explain and correct his many prejudices and areas of ignorance.

This sentiment has always made me smile. It is completely ass backwards. No, religion does not poison everything. Man poisons everything. Religion is the attempt by some to ameliorate man's natural tendency to poison everything.
People such as Hitchens are dishonest or dumb asses or both.
This goes back to the fundamental difference in the way the left and right view humanity. The left views man as perfectable, whatever that may mean. The right sees man as damaged goods and in need of a fair amount of control.
Given history, the left's view is clearly wrong and to continue in such delusions is a sign of mental illness. Or in the case of many, a dishonest ploy to gain power over those dumb enough to operate under such delusions.

So is the lunatic in the local mental institution who believes he is Napoleon. He needs understanding but no one should seriously consider his claims to be true or worth exploring.

There's a lot of intellectual dishonesty. Remember Ed Cottinger, or whatever his name was? A raving religious bigot and not that smart.
You can write books and be known as an "intellectual." But Hitchens was simply a religious bigot. I don't think he was that bright. When programmed by leftist dogma, you can't help but be stupid.
Oh, granted, he spewed forth the atheistic/materialist gibberish with great decorum and aplomb. He looked good doing it. But it was just lipstick on a pig. His brother was way smarter than he was.

Ha, ha, ha. I hadn't thought of ole Ed for years now. He certainly was a mental case. Completely unhinged. Wasn't he the nut who felt he had unduly suffered for having to listen to some unscheduled religious words from his direct superior officer while serving in Vietnam? As I recall, he likened it to some heinous torture or some other ridiculous comparison.
I think that Hitchens, like many other Brits in America, was given more credit for being intelligent and insightful because of his accent and voice tone. Many Americans are overly impressed with a British accent and do not pay enough attention to the words of the British speaker.

Ed Cottingham, now that I think about it. It wasn't so much that he didn't believe in God. I could technically not care one way or another. But he was just the most disagreeable fellow...the prototypical Atheist Fundamentalist.
Bingo. I totally agree.

Why has the US been doing this? Training Palestinian Snipers Note that Trump is the president who pulled funding of the Palestinian Authority. As I have long said, the USA should stop butting its nose into the business of others.

The Biden administration is the most anti-semitic, hateful government towards Israel since the Wilson government, when there was no State of Israel. It is full of self-hating Jews, who arn't really Jewish, and Moslem lovers, who eventually will find, that their alligence with Islam is self destructive. It would be elevating stupid to a new level to even think their actions are not intentional.
This old, senile, hateful, perverted, lying, son of a bitch, coward and would be despot and his hangers on is sucking up for a major world war that will bring on another holocaust. Defeat in November cannot come soon.
