As a student of history, I have long said that in order to understand what is happening at the higher levels of governments, one must try to understand the personal experiences, hurts, hates and loves which drive people. These are often impossible to know, but one can be sure they are at the root of much that happened/happens across history and the present. Ideology is often just a convenient mask for personal rage.  

Here are a couple of paragraphs which hit the nail on the head. 

Long ago, I came to the conclusion that historical rage is what has motivated a portion of the radical-secular-Jewish Left. The sad history of mistreatment by the Jews in Europe created many people who wish to destroy the West. It is irrational because the West is where Jews have flourished like nowhere else, but it has been passed down through generations. I believe this mindset was most pronounced in those who lived within the Russian Empire. It came with them when they immigrated. (Recall that in WWI, American Jews supported the Kaiser's Germany against the Tsar's Russia.) I suspect this rage is one of the reasons for the hysterical hate of present day Russia.  Putin is seen as a modern Tsar. 

Now I know my position on Russia and the Ukraine is correct.
