I don't specifically remember that scene from The Blues Brothers, though I recall that it leads to a feud between the pair and the Nazis (led by Henry Gibson). The Nazis did track them down, but their listed address was the street address of Wrigley Field.
Of course I remember that scene from Casablanca, which is what leads Major Strasser to order Captain Renault (never mind that the Gestapo could make no such orders, Renault figures Vichy would prefer him to defer to the Nazis) to close down Ric's Cafe Americain. This leads to the famous "shocked, shocked" scene. I'm simply amazed that the listing of great movie quotes not only doesn't include it (though it has several others from the movie), but it doesn't even seem to have been nominated.
In reality, von Trapp and his family had no trouble leaving. It seems that as a naval officer from a naval family, he had been born at Zara, then a minor Austro-Hungarian naval base. After the war Italy took it over (a bit of a sop, they wanted all of Dalmatia), so he had joint Austrian and Italian citizenship. But he really does seem to have disliked the Nazis, perhaps no surprise for an old imperial naval officer. If a Habsburg had led the way it might have been a different matter.

Here is an episode of To Tell The Truth that I watched today. The first segment should be a no-brainer. But watch and see how the panel does:
