Daniel Pipes. I don't buy it. There may be Moslems that are less religious, just like other religious philosophies, but I guarantee that when pushed to live a classical liberal life they will fail on the side of Islamic law.

I don’t know about you, but that tops my list of the hottest of the hot. My internal message that I take home (intuit) from this is that the most dynamic religion in the world (Leftism) is making some inroads (however small) into the second most dynamic religion in the world.
Can feminism-and-company destroy yet another institution? In this case, it would be a constructive wrecking. But, like Artler, I think a few outliers is probably not indicative of the dynamics of Islam itself.
For better or for worse, Islam does what conservatives, libertarians, and almost anyone else, won't do in the face of Leftism: Push back in ways that count. Islam does this. So I don't see much hope in a few fancy You-Tubers spouting off. But I could be wrong. Leftism has wrecked very strong institutions before. There is no reason, in principle, to think it can't wreck Islam given time.

Oh my! I just had to say that. Forgive me. Well, again, although I am the least sympathetic person toward Islam that you will likely ever meet, you have to sort of appreciate that Muslims understand the threat of secularism to their way of life. I don’t agree with murdering people to keep them in line. But it is indeed a wide contrast with the methods used by most Christians in the West which is to believe rosy and delusional thoughts about their sworn enemy.
That paragraph really shouldn't have been written without saying, This is what the Leftists are doing in the West as well! But, there, I said it.
Although it was often difficult for citizens of the Soviet Union to get good information, didn’t the West have a catnip-like influence on Russians because of the attraction of our material wealth? I’m not buying this “crisis of faith” rhetoric. But I can appreciate the desire of someone to drink, dance, and own an iPhone rather than to have to veil-up or fuck camels.
Like I said, I believe this is a case of at least some Muslims running headlong into the world’s most dynamic religion: Leftism. You can't ascribe all material benefits and production to Leftism, of course. But they market the *idea* of a sort of worldly utopia, free from oppression and (specifically) men.
What is the truth? I don’t know. There are lies, damn lies, and statistics. But I note there is very little talk about people wanting to reform Islam. It’s about becoming “secular,” non-religious, or atheist. If true, that is exactly what you’d expect from yutes who have suckled (if only from afar or surreptitiously) on Leftism as provided by Big Media, Big Tech, and Big Business.

You know what they say, "Everything goes better with bacon." This woman is amazing. The way she is poking the Muslims will drive them crazy. I particularly liked her remark about how making the bacon halal makes it taste better.

I agree. I believe it is the type of wishful thinking one encounters among intellectuals all too often. It's that or propaganda.

Naughty girl.
One commenter to the bacon video says it best:
But be careful, sister bacon eater, before taking off one yoke and putting on another. You have to understand that Leftism is just another totalitarian movement. Granted, she does say the “Hijab day” is Canada is horrible, so maybe she’s not a goofball jumping from the frying pan into the fire as so many others have before them.
Many in the West have undergone the same process (burning bras and stuff). They’ve taken all their gripes and blamed them on Christians, Jews, the United States, etc., and then have joined a movement that has (wait for it) required them all to wear a Western version of a veil.
I’m just saying, be careful, sister. If you simply get sucked into “Western culture” you could end up being not much more better off than you are now. But keep poking your stick at these bastards and may God (not the false god, Allah) protect you.

Pipes reminds me of sort of a “Darwin’s bulldog” in comparison to the more mainstream David Horowitz. Both are on the front lines. And I would admit they both know a hell of a lot more about the reality on the ground than I do.
But it all comes back to one thing: It’s all nice to say that there are oodles of “moderate Muslims” (or even Muslims who are “non-religious”). It’s quite another thing for these people to be any kind of force in the face of the enforcement arm of Islam (which it has always had).

Maybe the implicit message is: You can’t fix Islam, you can only leave it.

450 years ago, the forces of Catholic Europe defeated the Ottoman Turks at The Battle of Lepanto, one of the most important battles in history.
