"The district’s overall budget is about $1.2 billion for the 48,000 students."
That's $25.000 per student, as you noted. You could pay a full-time tutor less than that. How did they get there? Union and political corruption. Over-staffing (an effect of the corruption). And most of all, parents and voters who required no more than a "free" baby-sitting service for their children so that their careers would not be interrupted. They were asleep at the liberal wheel.

I was reminded of this yesterday in a conversation with a long-term client with the last name of "Chandler." She's in her 70's. I don't know who she votes for or if she is religious.
But we were discussing a project and she went off on how none of her employees could write in cursive, so therefore she had to write all the addresses and names on the cards she sends to clients regarding condolences for their pets. She obviously (and correctly) sees cursive handwriting as more personal and respectful.
I hear anecdotes like this all the time. And I in no way solicited this one. They just come flowing out. Yutes today are hard evidence of the intentional destruction of America.

Funny. We were having lunch with some friends yesterday and also talked about the inability of today's yutes to write in cursive. Besides Fu Jr., the youngest of our party was born in 1967, so we had all grown up learning how to write in, what we often called, longhand.

So...Texas isn't all that far off from screwy Washington State. Truth be told, my "cursive" or longhand went out the window decades ago. My handwriting is not very good...print or cursive. But what I've done to compensate to is press into service my refurbished typewriter to address envelopes. That's actually sort of fun to do. I had mentioned to my client in our little over-the-phone bitch-a-thon about "kids these days" that I would not send a child to a public school. She left this comment unanswered. It makes me wonder (well...I don't really wonder...I'm fairly certain) if people complain about the after-effects and give a complete pass to the source.

Believe me, we have more than our fair share of lefty loons here in the Lone Star State.
My cursive went to hell when I studied in Germany and Austria. It was very hard to take notes in German. Things went by so fast that my writing got steadily worse trying to keep up. Sometime it was so bad that I couldn't read it.
I still write a fair amount, but in print capitals, with a little cursive mixed in. Easy to read.

Separated at birth. I have to laugh sometimes. I'll show my brother a little post-it note I've written and ask "What does that say?" because I can't read it either.

The fact that the Federal Reserve has been a major buyer of US Treasury debt for a number of years is scandalous and immoral. It is nothing more than a gigantic shell game. I just saw the below video and it is clear our sociopathic criminal overlords are taking things to a new level. Buying the debt of bankrupt states such as California, New York and Illinois lays the costs, of decades of fraud and mismanagement by the governments of these socialist paradises, on the rest of the states which have kept spending within their means. Note the scumbag Demonrat backing such Fed purchases. They are trying to collapse the country. Stop bailing out California, Illinois and New York

Don Surber beautifully explains the basic problem at work in government, even if it is not run by a pack of vicious leftists. By its very nature, government is corrupt and bleeds the people. Our Founders understood this, but so many of today's people seem to have no idea of the rot inherent in all government. And the bigger the government, the bigger the rot. Birdbrains in space

As readers might recall, I am not a huge Ron Dreher fan, but this piece is outstanding. It is the best thing I have ever read by him. Michael Beschloss is a lying dickBeschloss has long been a fourth-rate "historian," (before that he was third-rate) but a first rate lickspittle.
