I don’t disagree with any of that. I think Rush was the face of the opposition for quite a few years. I understand that his passing would create a hole. But the conservative version of playing heavy Russian classical music on the airwaves like the passing of a Brezhnev isn’t doing it for me. Cold and heartless indeed.

Today they are apparently going to have Mike Pence host a show called “The Age of Rush.” I’m not sure how longer the show can go on milking the grief over his untimely death. But it does seem to be ongoing at the moment. I haven’t been listening to much radio at all the last few weeks.

It appears that they have found someone to replace Rush at 12:00 to 3:00 pm weekdays. Here's DanI have listened to some of Bongino's podcasts, which were not bad. But I wonder if he will be able to keep a majority of Rush's audience on board. I have my doubts.

My guess is that there is an enormous amount of money flowing from existing advertising contracts or relationships and they want to keep this going. I haven’t listen to Dan. But, at best, what you have is situation where they are milking this for all they can get. I think it goes without saying that Dan Bongino will sink or swim on his own merits. But at the end of the day, he’s just another talking head on the radio. The only true replacement for Rush was Mark Steyn. And I have no idea if he was offered the gig or even wanted it. But I think this is the wife calling the shots. I expect the EIB Network to crumble into ruin. I’m not sure of the mechanics of all this, but one commenter states:

I like Dan Bongino. I have listened to his pod casts over the last couple of years and he has credibility. First as a NYC police officer and as a secret service agent protecting the president. I don't know if he has enough charisma to carry a 15 hour week radio show but that goes for Mark Styne also. There is a definite opportunity for another true conservative in radio we shall have to wait and see.

I had not heard of Dan Bongino, that’s the kind of sheltered life I live. Had I been the producer of the show I would have contracted Steyn for two days a week (Monday and Tuesday) and filled in two more days with guest-hosts. But not just any guest hosts. I would steer toward giving opportunities to up-and-comers. It might be rough, but do I really want to listen to Mark Davis? For the fifth day (Friday) I would do one hour (or so) of “Best of Rush” as hosted by your GOP politician(s) of choice, maybe integrating and bouncing their own ideas off of the "Best of Rush" stuff in the context of current issues. My less gracious view of Rush Limbaugh (and all of conservative talk radio) is that they make millions catering to people’s discontent without arguably moving the culture one iota. So let’s give voice to some of the people who actually are in office trying to effect positive change. And I'm not just talking about national politicians. There would be a vetting process. These people would have to be more entertaining than watching paint dry. But you could draw from local officials if need be. It's a big pool out there. I can see plenty of politicians clamoring for that kind of platform. The vetting process would be central. And if you find some good ones, you put them in the rotation. Granted, by his own admission, Rush was an entertainer, so any thoughts of replacing Rush are as nonsensical as try to replace Milton Berle. These are one-of-a-kind people. But if you want to milk the EIB network for a while (perhaps even creating something people might want to listen to), that is one approach. But I just don’t see how any connection is maintained to the Limbaugh program without Mark Steyn.

No you don't and neither do I. He used to be the lead-in to Rush on the main talk-radio station in Dallas/Fort Worth. Apparently, he demanded too much money for a new contract and they let him walk. He now blabs on another local station, but his star would appear to have faded greatly. I could not stand him. He was one of these guys who had libertarianism as a religion. Every action, every choice for him could be dealt with by the "market."
I agree 100%.
