Maybe this first song handles what Clarke was trying to say in a much more entertaining way. And it has the big advantage of taking only a little over 5 minutes. As with all such art, it can be interpreted in many different ways. Going For The One

Kinda going for the "One" theme with religious undertones, let's go with...

This is not an overtly religious song unless the Light of the World mentioned is Christ. I find both the lyrics and music beautiful, which is something which rarely happens. As mushy as it sounds, I believe the message of the song is absolutely true. The song always brings tears to my eyes. I realize I am a long way from living by the message, but I console myself knowing that the rest of humanity is in the same boat. Love Is The Answer

Nice song. Those guys made a good living on soft rock FM in the 70s and 80s.

This song mentions an Angel. That makes it through on a technicality:
Mr. Kung might agree she had a good, but not great, voice. But she was a great performer. And easy on the eyes. As are those Tennille-ettes at the beginning of the video.

Couldn't agree more. She was/is (I don't know if she is still performing, but I believe he died in the last couple of years) a great entertainer. Las Vegas or a good variety show type. I haven't heard that song in years. I like it a lot. A good way to start the day. The Tennille-ettes were a waste of space in my opinion. Keep the camera on her.

Continuing the religious theme, we now have Beer with Jesus
No comment. It needs none. And I'm not laughing. Not even smiling.

Better than I thought it would be. Sometimes a lot can be said with a few words.

Now for a view into a tenet of the modern left's religion. That said, I like the song and am a big fan of YES. Don't Kill The Whale

Do you know what the flip-side of Beer with Jesus was? This is a multiple chose question:
1) Tokin' with the Lord 2) High-fivin' with the Hebrews 3) Having a flock load of fun with the Good Shepherd
Nice Yes song. Yes.

Although it would be theologically impossible, I think "Tokin' with the Trinity" sounds better.

There are some religious references in this. I have never heard The Beach Boys cover. California Fleein'

This song isn't religious-themed, so far as I know. But Bless the Lord -- we are through "Black History Month." The only consolation is that they chose a short month for that.
But here's my point. Look at these guys on stage in their fancy clothes and consider just how far rap culture has dragged everyone down to the gutter. It didn't have to be that way. Being a badly-dress criminal who can barely speak English is not "authentically black."

Your alteration is noted and appreciated. But it would be "Trippin' with the Trinity."

"When I pulled out my KJV, the pastor burst into flames."
Oh, Jesus H...oops. Shouldn't go there. But what a gut-busting laugh. Great line. Good parody.

You're right. I like that better. Theologically it is also more sound.

It is safe to assume that this version is no the play list in CA. Humor is not dead yet, but it is underground

Who's laughing now? Maybe Bruce Cockburn. Maybe not. Not sure how to interpret this. But it's generally close to the theme. Takes a shot at NY. Gotta love that. And maybe laugh. But it's not required. Ha ha.
