I knew Dyson was a climate skeptic, having found his name on a list someone sent me of such scientists. I didn't know he became an unperson, but it's not a surprise. Many climate alarmists try to win the argument by jailing the skeptics. O'Brien would certainly approve.

It looks like Dyson was a better thinker and probably a better man and scientist than Dawkins. Some might argue that that isn't saying much.

Dennis Prager said something just the other day on his radio program. He was saying you could tell which kids were on the Left without even once discussing their politics. He said the answer lies in whether or not the kids are jaded.
I’ll submit the obvious that Richard Dawkins is jaded (deeply wounded in some way) and Freeman Dyson was not. His above quote is wise, reasonable, logical, and lacks jadedness.
The Left is turning people into angry, jaded people. People such as Dawkins are incapable of logic and reason regarding philosophy because they are so angry and jaded.
Do not return kind with kind in this regard, something I warned at StubbornThings. Turn the other cheek. Shake the dust off your feet and leave that place. Do not give dogs what is holy. Do no throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet and turn and tear you to pieces.
Do this: Psychologically. Socially. Spiritually. But by all means, trample them under your own feet where appropriate. There is nothing noble in surrendering to confused, angry, and even evil people. But don’t play their game.
People (left or right, for the most part) are incapable of a simple and deep thought such as that from Dyson. Of course there’s been a lot of baloney made up by people and thrown into religion…so much so that a reasonable man can assume it is damn difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.
But one can acknowledge the basic fact of reality the Dyson acknowledged and build from there.
He’s a little namby-pamby on the idea that “for good people to do evil, it takes religion.” That ought to be plainly rebutted first. On any given day, law enforcement agencies and prison systems are not dealing with religious fanatics. They are dealing with mankind who lack goodness because it’s never been instilled in them (by and large).
As Dennis Prager rightly says, children may be born innocent but they are not born good. They have to be made into good. For anyone to believe the religion is the root cause of mankind’s immoral behavior is not being intellectually honest.
Like I said, I don’t know if some minister ran over Richard Dawkins’ dog when he was a kid. But these atheist types have such an angry and prolonged grudge against even the idea of God. So you know, for a fact, this has little to do with God, per se. It’s about whatever they are aggrieved about. And few of these pikers are honest enough to admit that.

This statement is so deceitful that it hurts. I especially liked "Could not accept behaviour that excludes others." But then it fires (excludes) someone who disagrees with IKEA's opinion of what is freedom and tolerance.

Rich radicals. I had heard about the four rich homosexual leftists who took over Colorado in 2004 with hyperabundant money. Something similar happened in New York some years ago, when a super-rich homosexual spent massive sums to get rid of a GOP House member who had antagonized him over some such issue.

That was a superb analysis, and it's rather obvious that she agrees with your views on the importance of sexual morality. It's an important point that freedom requires a degree of self-control. In its absence, you end up with chaos, which seems to mean freedom from authority. But instead it means a lack of stability, which ultimately leads to a new form of order that will provide such stability.
Usually, at least initially, it's the rule of the local bully. In fact, this is what we're seeing in the large cities where Sorosite prosecutors and radical leftist mayors (and in many cases governors) are allowing rioters to burn, loot, and destroy virtually with impunity -- while going after people like the McCloskeys who defend themselves. We've also seen this for years (probably decades) in colleges, changing only in that the bullies have become every more powerful as the management (often former college radicals) increasingly goes along with them. How much of this is genuine support and how much appeasement varies from individual to individual, but the results are much the same.

It seems that John Paul and Benedict made some efforts to rein in the Lavender Mafia, but were reluctant to act against those close to them. And the papal bureaucracy was itself heavily infested with the Lavender Mafia. It was this infiltration, which began during the sexual revolution that coincided with Pope Paul VI and was inadequately (if at all) combatted by him, which probably led to the Catholic disasters since.
