I can't make up my mind whether that is a halo or you have a hairdo like the sphinx.

I was having an out-of-body experience during that time lapse photo. That happens a lot these days. Too much time stuck at home, I think. This next one is called “Levis and Coke." I don’t know if the camera went off by accident or if I was testing the sharpness of the focus on the weave of the denim.

Part of a series to be titled, "The American Experience."

This one I’m particularly proud of. It’s called “ In the Closet.” I was again testing the low light app for my iPhone. If I pay $3.99, I can get rid of that watermark. Still playing around with it. But the closet was almost pitch-black except for a little light coming in through the door which was a jar. I guess you could say it works pretty good.

I changed my mind on that title. Which suits it better?

I don't know if it was intentional, but "Levis and Coke", at least visually, seems a bit like a parody of Lewis and Clark, though they never got as far as Puget Sound.

I don’t remember if I ever posted this one. My brother was doing his best impression of Ricky Nelson in an old school house that had been turned into a community events center. But they still had a bunch of old schoolhouse stuff on the walls. It’s just like walking back into the late 1950’s. I saw this “ Rules for Teacher” posted on the wall. 1) You will not marry during the term of your contract 2) You will not keep company with men. 4) You may not loiter downtown in any of the ice cream stores. 7) You may not dress in bright colors. Whether this is authentic or not, I have no idea. But schools would likely be the better for it if such rules were obeyed. By the way, I had no idea that ice creams stores used to be such a hotbed of illicit activity.

This one I call “ On the Right.” I was trying out an app that allowed you to modify existing photos.

Levis and Coke is more descriptive of what I see. Now, if you want to see a really "Semi-cluttered desk" I think have just the thing.

On the right of whom or what? Though der Schnurrbart is somewhat suggestive.

I would love to see your semi-cluttered desk. You know who had a really cluttered desk? My father. And yet he had no problem at all doing quite complex projects. So that whole "cluttered desk/cluttered mind" thing is just something that some pinhead idiot said at one time to try to sound smart.
That said, I prefer a neat desk when it's not in mid-project.

There's a very relevant pair of incidents involving Lyndon the Bane and one of his aides. One day, passing by, he noticed the aide's neat desk and said, "I hope your mind isn't as empty as your desk." A few days later, he came by again. The aide had been making sure to keep various items on the desk to avoid being mocked -- so the Bane told him, "I hope your mind isn't as cluttered as your desk."
As for Lyndon the Bane's mind, the less said about it the better.

Sounds as if LBJ was a passive-aggressive ass. And very often I think he was an active one as well.

There's an item in Presidential Anecdotes that tells you all you need to know about Lyndon the Bane.
In a college political science course exam, LBJ faced a question asking what the Constitution says about education. Not having any idea of the answer, he proceeded to right a bunch of what he had to know was garbage, no doubt what he wished it said. The teacher pointed out that in reality the Constitution says nothing whatsoever about education.
The Bane pettily recalled being correctly reproved for a long time. As President he passed a lot of laws on Behemoth support for education. Naturally the (liberal-dominated) courts did nothing to stop him. And -- still remembering and resenting this correction -- he scoffed that he had all of this to the Constitution (needless to say, passing unconstitutional laws and having them not overturned by the courts doesn't add anything to the actual Constitution).
We thus see much that was despicable about the Bane in these incidents. He slung a line of bullshit and was resentful for decades that the teacher corrected him. And after all that time learning political science and then getting involved in politics, he had no idea of what the Constitution really is. No doubt he believed in a "living Constitution" that has nothing to do with the actual contents.
I had a chance to meet him once. After my father's death, he showed up (probably at Fort Campbell to give his ghost some sort of honor. We were invited -- and I chose not to go. I've never regretted it.

Just for experimental purposes, I took the same shot with my DSLR (the first one, in the post just above, was with my iPhone 6s). At smaller sizes, they both look pretty good. If you enlarge to 100%, you can see that my Nikon D3300 DSLR (this post) has superior detail. Still, not bad for an iPhone. Nikon D3300 DSLR HostaCamAnd you all remember how to get to 100% view: Click on the link (the one below the photo). Then click once on the photo that appears. Then click on the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the screen. Then in the little window that appears near the magnifying glass, drag the white slider to the far right.

Using the ProCamera app to take photos on my iPhone 6s (instead of the default Camera app made by Apple), it allows you to save the photos in tiff format (tagged image file format). It’s a lossless compression format for images and it’s common for those who work professionally with photos and Photoshop (as I sometimes do). You can save and resave and save again and not lose any detail in the images. JPG is most commonly used for photographs and is the default format for almost all digital cameras. And it’s not a lossless compression algore-rhythm. But the files sizes are typically 1/5 of tiff or less. And when you throw out lot of data, you’re also typically throwing away some detail. And every time you save a jpg (if you’d made some edits, for instance), it will go through it’s compression algore-rhythms again and produce even more loss of data and will also cause the attenuation of jpg artifacts that look like this: So if you want to find out what a camera is capable of, the tiff (or RAW) file format is the way to go. I know this is more than you wanted to know but put it in the category of “You learn something new every day.” So let’s return to our hosta. I’ve shot it with my iPhone 6s and saved it in tiff format, avoiding the compression (and thus loss of image quality) of jpg. HostaCam (iPhone / tiff format)If you wanted to take time to compare them (or just save your time and trust me), the tiff version from the iPhone is a little sharper than the iPhone jpg version, but both are noticeably inferior to the shot take on my Nikon — which was in jpg format, and I could have gone through the whole rigamarole and produced a slighter better photo by having the camera save it in tiff on the Nikon. (Do you sense another photo coming?). The beads of water are a little sharper on the tiff vs. the jpg version, for instance.

I assume you've noticed that the photo of the balloons is blurry/fuzzy. Is this supposed to be impressionistic photography?

If you go back and read the text, you'll see that the balloon photo is posted as an example of jpg artifacting.
