That's impressive. Did he run into Richard Dreyfuss or ET?

No kidding. He said basically, "If you think the photo is impressive, it's nothing like being there." I believe him.

I never saw ET, so I don't know if the Devil's Tower or something similar appeared in it. (We went to see it once, but there was a HUGE line so we saw another movie instead.) The Dreyfuss movie was Close Encounters of the Third Kind. But that certainly is impressive.
The roses, as no doubt you've noticed by now, didn't make it through.

No, ET did not have the Devil's Tower in it, but it did have an ET in it, like Dreyfuss' "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Got to think laterally!

I forwarded my daily e-mail to Brad to see if he can post it (or the main photo, anyway), assuming he likes it enough to do so. Unfortunately, the address was a Google address, and I've found that I can't link those.

Beautiful photo. I don't recall seeing Devils Tower with grasslands before. Most photos are taken much closer, and miss the beauty of the place. The wooden fence posts provide interest in the foreground and lead the eye through the scene to the Tower. Steel fence posts would have detracted from the composition. The cloak of gossamer clouds convey the feeling of mystery and awe that he probably felt while there. Blue ribbon photo, thanks for sharing.

Timothy, I got your email regarding a page of photos hosted at a place claled Phototropolis. None of the photos showed up in my email program. But I was able to follow this link and view the photos. Those are some pretty cool photos. I’m not sure if what I’m getting is right. But included were: dwarf galaxy NCG 1569, Denali Park, Berlin, Germany, and Pug Blanket. You should be able to copy and paste a link from any other photos you have at Phototropolis into a post here. I did it this one time for you. But I'm out of the business of moderating or curating beyond basic upkeep of the site. You all are on your own for the most part except for technical questions about the site. If you do have something else you need help with, start a topic in the help section and I'm sure one of us can find a solution.

The first photo was the particular one I wanted to send. I'll see what I can do in the future. The worst that can handle is it doesn't work.

Technical support (not butler service) is always available here. There should be a very easy way to obtain a link that you can post here.
All I did was right-click on the "View Full Size Image" text (which is a link) from the email message you sent me and chose "Copy link" from the contextual pop-up menu. Then it's just a matter of pasting the link where you want. You should just be able to paste the raw link into a post box although it's always nice to pretty it up by using the Link tool (round, bluish icon) to paste in the link and apply it to whatever word or phrase you want to make clickable.
Further study may show that we can get the photos embedded right in a post as Mr. Kung has been able to do with his Google Photos stuff.

Mr. Kung, your excellent photo of the train reminds me of the Camp 6 Logging Train Ride at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma. I've ridden it a couple times and it is a memorable experience (especially for a kid).

Well, the right click on my computer not only doesn't work, but locks up the computer. (The left click doesn't work either, but doesn't lock it up. Fortunately, a maintenance man showed me a substitute -- tapping the computer above the clicker has the same effect as the left click.) A friend recently gave me a track ball, but I normally don't keep it attached. (Space on the table is limited.) I'll see what I can do, perhaps tomorrow depending on what picture they send.

That looks like a fun ride.
The Texas State Railroad ride is pretty short (As I recall it was about 30-40 minutes each way with something like an hour or so at the depot where I took the pictures. Passengers must disembark and can eat while waiting for the return trip) but it is worth doing it at least once.
I like the idea of the cooler weather and evergreens which are in and around the Logging Train Ride. When we took the Texas State Railroad, I believe only one care was air-conditioned and it was a very hot day.

Tim's photos got me to thinking of this fantastic photo which was first taken in the 1990s. Pillars of Creation
