Trump's people did this and presto whamo, he gained more minority votes than any other Republican for years. I was hesitant about Trump until he went to Detroit and actually talked about the Democrat Party and asked a large audience of Blacks, after being promised the moon and stars and only getting a bag of crap for 50 years what have they got to lose. He did more for minority employment inn 4 years than democrats did in 50. It is one of the areas that all other republicans fall short, and just because minorities voted for Trump doesn't mean they will vote for anyone else. If Trump doesn't run they are going to have to convince minorities the party has changed and will not ignore them. It won't be easy.

Splitting hairs as to whether we should be more Burkean or more Lockian just points out what fools these fellows are. Let's not forget the Locke and Burke were considered radicals in their day. I think both would be appalled at what has been done in their name in the last 200 years by people who call themselves conservative or traditional liberal.

I believe the fact that they are even talking about Burke and Locke shows a lack of grounding in today's politics. The number of Americans who have actually read Burke and Locke is certainly small and the number who understand them is smaller still. What percentage of American voters have heard about either, much less think about their political philosophies when considering who to vote for?
It is a rare thing to find pundits with a practical side to them. This is one reason I like Steve Bannon so much. The man is well educated and highly read, but is also a successful businessman who is able to determine what he believes, where the country is, what needs to be done to stop the decline (at least partially) and put together a plan and team to do what needs to be done.

I wonder if they would be appalled or would they have expected scoundrels and knaves to twist there words over the years.

What's wrong with you? You did not mention one political philosopher's name. Your comments display a lack of erudition on the subject. Clearly you have little grasp of what is discussed at wine-and-cheese parties in and around D.C. and NYC. Listing concrete problems which need to be addressed. How gauche. Barbarian! (If I could find an emoji for a smirk, I would post it) Boris Johnson would not feel comfortable with you.

One thing Trump did very right was not accept "White Guilt" as a premise, as if it were a real thing that he had to apologize for. I guarantee you that most Republicans walk on eggshells on this subject because they accept the premise. Their shtick is not to reject the premise but to show that they are not like "those other guys" for whom the label applies.

Totally agree. And if we want to quote some famous men, we can quote some quite closer to home: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Reagan, Madison, Jay, Adams, etc. And these men (generally speaking) were not making fine, coffee-house talking points. They spoke in a way (as did Reagan) that encapsulated the subject and in a way that most people could understand.
Granted, the Founders did do their fine-toothed intellectualizing as well in The Federalist Papers, and such. But given the much more literate populace back then, even these weren't beyond the common man's reach.
An ominous quote from John Adams to his wife, Abigail, could regrettably define the present situation: “A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.”

Sundance gives the best analysis of today's surveillance state and how we got here. The piece is long and not an easy read, but it demonstrates just how deep the corruption is; all of D.C. Anyone who believes that America's greatest enemies reside outside the country needs to read this piece. Durham just scratching the surface

Hillsdale's "Imprimis" of December 2021 is entitled, "What Is the Great Reset?" The author, Michael Rectenwald, explains that it is no conspiracy theory, but a real political movement which has its origins with Klaus Schwab of "World Economic Forum" infamy. As we at R & T understand, the goal of the Great Reset is evil. Schwab and his criminal minions and partners in crime call it "stakeholder capitalism." Rectenwald calls it "corporate socialism." He quotes Italian philosopher, Giorgio Agamben, who with an honest directness, calls it "corporate communism." This philosophy has taken root among the globalists, whose principal ideological organization is the WEF. Its members include the largest corporations and NGOs around the world. These work together to impose the "woke" ideology and "social justice." BlackRock Inc, the world's largest asset manager, is one of the WEF's most powerful members (partners). Larry Fink, BlackRock's CEO has declared "climate risk is investment risk" and has pushed companies around the world to invest accordingly. Fink has written a letter (below) to companies across the globe. Translation-Get on board with climate change or lose investments. This is further confirmation of the basis of this thread i.e. a small number of people in the right positions are forcing the rest of us into globalist Marxism. I recommend you read: The Great Reset

The easy acquiescence to the various Wuhan Flu diktats shows that there will likely be little widespread opposition to globalist Marxism, especially as presented in the guise of "saving the planet."
I'm not saying to give up or to not oppose them. In fact, there's a reason I wrote "widespread" opposition because I do think there could be some "narrow-focus" opposition, such as Canadian truckers. Only a few rebels threw tea into the harbor but it help spark a revolution.
But the moral center of America and the West has been eaten away. Not sure how much I should give away about this chat I had with a fellow yesterday. But I have a client who was trying to work with a major charity organization….one that is (in name, at least) joined thoroughly with the Christian Purpose. I was donating some of my time as well and giving him an extremely good deal on a product.
Long story short (and you know the story), his faith-based initiative failed to gain much traction even though (wait for it) he was personally paying for it and it didn't cost this agency a dime.
The most minimal commitment was all that it would take for this agency to complete the project (basically giving the end-user the product). But my client said that he was told by the director of this agency, "I can't tell my employees to do this thing." And as my client noted, these employees are paid and would, of course, be required to do their job as instructed by the management (to basically hand a card to a "client" when handing them a free meal).
Then he told me about Sunday mornings. For a faith-based organization, that is going to be a special time, right? Right? Well, he told me that the "clients" were allowed to sleep in as long as they liked and then they were allowed to watch cartoons.
I didn't once say the words "Salvation Army." You didn't hear it from my lips. But it confirmed pretty much everything I ever thought about that and most every other "charity" organization. They exist as "do-gooders" to basically make it easy for people to stay in sin. (Sin of drug use, sin of alcohol use, sin of idleness, etc.)
As I said, I'm thoroughly convinced that the moral center of this nation has been rotted out. There is virtually nothing now to stop the many governmental villains. Oh, except for those approximately 500 million guns in the hands of the populace. Given the Nazi-like methods of Australian and now New Zealand, it brings to light just how important those guns are and that the Second Amendment had almost nothing to do with the ability of people to hunt. It was about their ability to protect themselves from tyranny.
And we will eventually be called up to start shooting back at these government thugs. One hopes that the police and sheriffs will be on the right side. But I wouldn't count on it. Many, if not most, of them share the rotted-out moral center that is the real pandemic of concern in this country.

Salvation Army This is an organization that has changed with the times. My father, returning from Guadalcanal landed in New Zealand in 1942. On the dock various support groups were handing out donuts and coffee to the Marines of the 1st division. The only so-caslled charity to actually ask for payment was the American Red Cross. Salvation Army was passing out as fast as they could everything they had no charge. It was the same in Vietnam, although Red Cross had modified to just asking for payment (donations). It is sad to see SA fall to such despicable times. BTW, until a few years ago The American Red Cross did not affiliate in any way with the Israeli Magen David however, they worked closely with the Red Crescent. Do I need to wonder why ?

This was not a guy who was sleeping on someone else's property and defecating on the sidewalk. He was not living in a cardboard box and shirking his responsibility to pay his way through life or to do his duty.
Guys such as your father on the dock don't need to be preached to (unless they want that). They need a donut and a hot coffee. They need a respite from the storm, a piece of civilization from home. I'm totally fully in line with that and admit there are many bums, hobos, and vagrants who just need a donut or a hot coffee.
But that's the problem. That's the end of the transaction now, even for the Salvation Army. The donut and coffee aren't a means to an end (saving a soul and helping some escape their degraded life). The donut and coffee are now the end.

My father enlisted in the Corps in 1933, he was 23 years old and without a job. He served through Korea as did many who enlisted, for the same reason in the 30s, a hot and a cot. He told me the best duty he had in the fleet was two years on the USS Nevada in the mid 30s. The Nevada was heroic ship that it took a nuclear explosion to sink. She was used as a target for nuclear tests in the 50s. A sad end to a great ship. If you ever visit the US Mint in Carson City Nevada you can view the official silver tea and coffee service from the Nevada.
He lamented the change form the "old corps" to the new, and that was in 1970. I guess I am old corp now.

I believe the coffee and donut are the means to an end, but a different end than the which our fathers' Salvation Army had in mind. Today's end is to simply keep raising money for the organization/bureaucracy known as the Salvation Army. If there were no bums, needy, addicted or other problematic groups, the Salvation Army would have to invent them in order to raise funds. Sadly, today's Salvation Army's mission statement is to protect and expand the Salvation Army. (See Kung's dictums on bureaucracies. ) Along the way, they can do their bit for the ruination of the Christian West. Ironic, heh? Salvation Army Note the top line under "Learn how you can help." Queers and diversity, (diversity being something of a redundancy since queers are covered by diversity) are the organization's 1st and 2nd priorities. Holiday giving in not a program per se, just a way to rake in money.

There's no question that there is a sort of military-industrial complex about the whole charity game, even if you strip away all cynicism. But if the charities were doing good work (and not simply making it easy for people to stay mired in a degraded lifestyle), more power to them in getting donors and raising money. If they were demonstrably changing these peoples' lives for the better (long term or even near-term), that would be something worth donating to.
But they're not. All we ever see is that when you hand out the goods with no strings attached, the line of cardboard boxes and feces-strewn alleyways just increases. The "homeless" people are not viewed as human beings with moral agency. They are mere puppets, warm bodies so that everyone can feel like they are doing something good without really doing anything necessary or difficult.
Oh, brother. That says it all. The one and only highlighted item should read something like this: Bringing people to the healing power of God so that they can get their lives – both material and spiritual – back on track and enjoy a more meaningful, healthy, and blessed life. Full stop.
But, probably like the Anglican Church and much of the Catholic Church, they don't really believe in God. Not sure that I do in the full sense. But I don't pretend at it. The experiment has been run. If you think you can solve people's problems by purely material means, it's not working. The lines and lines of wrecked human beings we call "the homeless" are testament to the fact that this sort of no-strings-attached purely secular charity isn't working. And I would submit that they are making the problem worse.

Today's end is to simply keep raising money for the organization/bureaucracy known as the Salvation Army. Best way to end this nonsense is to remove the tax exempt status. Government has no business subtlety funding charity with tax dollars do away with 501 and other exemption clauses and charities will suddenly become more efficient and stop paying their officers millions.

The irony may be that such exemptions were meant to keep government from controlling religious institutions. I think there is still merit to that.
But looking at the Salvation Army's web page, it's pretty obvious that much of religion has voluntarily forsaken itself in order to substitute the Progressive worldview. For such institutions, tax exemption for government non-interference no longer applies. "Jesus" is but a mere gloss...window-dressing. This is certainly true regarding the fake pope, Francis, and large sections of the Catholic Church. And large portions of the ostensibly Protestant world as well.

Good to see that others are hammering away at the truth. The "crisis" in the Ukraine is nothing more than a red herring, diversion, distraction, misdirection, in short a colossal lie. I truly believe a good number of our "rulers" need to be taken to court and convicted of treason. Keep the masses in a panic It would seem that the Ukrainian Defense Minister is on to the Biden Administration and willing to contradict the false pronouncements of imminent disaster in the Ukraine. You can bet he understands that what Biden is doing is not to the advantage of the Ukraine, rather it is putting the Ukraine in a more precarious situation. Reznikov's public contradiction of Biden is to protect the Ukraine from possible harm due to immoral and/or hare-brained actions of the USA. We believe possibility of large escalation to be low Paul Craig Roberts points out the fact the the Washington Post is simply the mouthpiece of the military-industrial-intelligence-security-state-department-financial complex and is spinning nonsensical tales about Putin and the Ukraine. If Putin actually wanted to conquer the Ukraine, he would just attack it as nobody could stop it. I have pointed out the same thing. News liars

OMG! Macron is the world's greatest diplomat and Biden is magnanimous in accepting to meet Putin if Russia doesn't attack the Ukraine. And this all at the "last minute." What a load of shit. The article claims that 75% of Russia's conventional forces are "poised" at the Ukraine border, which would mean that the total number of Russia's conventional forces would be about 253,000. But information that I can find says that the Russian military has about 1,350,000 total military personnel with about 850,000 active. Perhaps I am missing something, but I believe that the newspaper is either printing lies or doesn't know what it is talking about. Probably both.
