I think Icarus and his dad Daedalus would have been very happy to have had this contraption when escaping Crete.

That is beyond cool. And if I were the insurance agent, I wouldn't sell him any life insurance. But what an amazing piece of technology and invention.

Here is a 7 minute clip about Jetman. He is apparently in Oshkosh attending some event and flying as well. I have seen this guy a couple of other times and he is really amazing.

No doubt they would have found it useful, though Daedalus succeeded in his flight. Icarus flew too high, and the Sun melted the wax of his wings, causing them to fall off and him to fall into what became known as the Icarian Sea. But this would have enabled them to travel a lot faster with a lot less exertion -- if it could arrive at the nearest island not under Minoan domination.
