This might not be your cup of tea, but I thought this was nice for a change:

There is no doubt this takes a good amount of musical talent, but it has a gimmicky feel about it. Interesting but not inspiring.

I seriously doubt that anything I post will meet with Mr. Flu's approval. But here's one I like that is off the beaten path: The album can be found here.

Don't go negative on me now. In fact, I found that piece beautiful. It is one of the better Christmas songs I have heard in a long time. The tune is not typical of what one often hears from Christmas songs. There is a mixture of major and minor chords which is very attractive. I also found the tempo and way the song was sung to be uplifting. The choir was of a very high quality. No gimmicks, just beautiful music. It is always most difficult to do the simple things right and with inspiration, but when done properly, nothing surpasses the result.

I didn’t know that Henry VIII had any connection to that song. Yeah, the later Bing version is great. I watched this one by, I think, the Glasgow Church of Christ, which was pretty good. We (royal “we”) always grade these songs with the consideration that even the worst efforts are not an attempt to pollute the world with trash.
Speaking of the worst attempts, I have a whole lot of Christmas albums bookmarked via Apple Music. I took them all and smooshed them into a yuge playlist which I set to play randomly. It mostly works. But I cringe every time it comes to one of the songs on the Beach Boys Christmas album. I gotta remove that from the playlist. I find it just doesn't fit in, even in the rather eclectic mix that I have.

I'm glad you like it, Mr. Flu. But sometimes it's like throwing darts at a dartboard wondering what you guys will like.

That is a nice piece. It is the type of music one could listen to on a snowy-winter's night, sitting in front of the fire sipping hot chocolate or Gluehwein. I particularly like the first minute or so of the song.

I seriously doubt that this will be Flu-approved, but I find this an interesting take on one of my favorite Christmas songs:

Not a holiday song, per se. But our younger members may like it. Or any members may like it:

Au contraire mon ami. I liked the whole piece, except for a few bars at around 1:05 minutes, when the guitarist was transitioning from one phrase to another. The sound quality was very clear and made me think of a small bar or auditorium wear the audience sat just off the stage where the band was playing. A very personal performance. I also like "The Little Drummer Boy" very much.

Glad you mostly liked. Just trying to share some variety around here. I mean, every song can't be Bing. Maybe every other is okay though.

If you're looking for something moody or contemplative, I ran into this interesting album by the Poor Clares of Arundel. This is track sixteen:

Is it okay to like Michael Buble? Maybe just for Christmas music? I haven't decided yet. It took me years to appreciate The Velvet Fog. But his is one of the best Christmas albums I've ever heard. We'll see if Buble gets a thumbs-up or has me running for the toilet. Mariah Carey has that effect. There's just some really awful contemporary Christmas music out there.
