The fourth track on Buble's Christmas album is "White Christmas" with Shania Twain. Oh my gosh, it's awful. Gonna cleanse the palate with Frank's version. Thumbs-down on the Buble.

Sometimes the "comfort" in "comfort and joy" can get out of hand. So here's a warning about that:

Holiday letter for all our friends
Family news for 2021
News from Israel:
My oldest son, David has been promoted to full Colonel and will be district commander for Shin Bet in the northern region, from the Lebanon border to about Haifa and across to the Syrian border. His lovely wife, Sarah is a supervising nurse at Hadassah Medical Center. Their oldest son, my grandson Ben has completed his two-year enlistment in the IDF and is entering Hebrew University in the spring he wants to be a civil engineer, roads and commodes. His brother Barack will complete his two years next fall and plans to remain in the IDF and will go to OCS. The youngest girl Deborah has entered the IDF for her two-year tour of duty. Deborah and her brother, Barack will stay in Tel Aviv in the family home and David and Sarah are moving to Safed. To be near his command.
News from Florida:
My oldest grandson Daniel is working for the county as a specialized mechanic. His brother Nathan lives nearby and has become a certified funeral director. Daniels wife Emily, is now an RN and is about to take her first full-time job since leaving the Army. Their two children are doing well in school and since they are in Florida have been in school face-to-face all year.
News from the people’s republic of California:
My oldest granddaughter, Tonya and her son Knight are doing well. She plans on staying home for at least another six months. I am still encouraging them to move out of CA. So is her mother.
My youngest son Aaron is supervisor of the Commissary at the old McClellan AFB. He plans on retiring when he has his 20 in MWR unless he gets a posting to Europe. He has enough seniority, but chances are slim. He may change his retirement plans also, but since his mother passed away in Oct, he has no real reason to stay in CA.
News from Arkansas:
My daughter is employed full time and has been all through the KFF panic. The last two grand children are both in charter school and doing well. I am still teaching both on American history, the constitution, and bill of rights. We have almost completed a unit on the Cold War.
Wifey and I both had a bout of KFF, despite vaccinations. My wife was taken down for about two weeks and is slowly recovering. I had a runny nose for a few days and a slight cough. Everyone is on the mend.
I hope everyone has a good year for 2022. G-d bless you all.

Thanks for sharing news of what is obviously a very special and accomplished family. Blessings to them all. Safety for those deliberately going into harm's way.
What a great joy that children and grandchildren can bring. I read that in your words. "Be fruitful and multiply" were obviously not empty words in your clan.
Best of luck to all the children and grandchildren as they make their way through life. It sounds as if you and the misses have helped greatly with that.

I am wondering if we three haven't been hit by the KFF. Mrs. Flu starting coughing about a week ago, but wouldn't be bothered with it. Getting sick is part of life. (In fact, she rarely gets sick) Then starting last Tuesday, I began to cough and getting a headache. On Wednesday Flu jr. didn't feel like eating which is a sure sign that something is amiss. I checked and he had a temperature of 102.5 degrees. I then checked myself and I had a temperature of 101.7 degrees. Both jr.'s and my temperatures are about 99 degrees today. Mrs. Flu had and still has a low-grade fever and is very tired and just wants to sleep. She also seems to have lost her taste. Surprisingly, neither jr. nor I have felt bad during this period, just a little tired. We will see how things go.

The great gift of natural immunity. But then KFF is not the only thing going around. Chicken broth, bourbon, and bon-bons I recommend for recovery. But I'm sure Mrs. Flu has even better methods.

True enough. I had something in October, but it was very similar to something I get almost every year, so I am pretty sure it wasn't the KFF. What makes me wonder about this particular malady is the fact that the symptoms are those one hears about the KFF. More importantly, all of us got the bug. This does not happen with us. I may get sick, but jr. and Mrs. Flu don't.
Your medicinal advice reminded my of a very popular cure in Europe; hot lemon tea with a shot or two of brandy. You may not be cured immediately, but in the meantime you feel better.

I had something pretty powerful in mid May. Don't know what it was but it hit me for about two weeks. The first 4 days were pure misery. Fever, aching bones. Couldn't even sleep. But didn't effect appetite, taste buds, smell or stomach. Wasn't KFF-like from what I understand. Have no idea what it was. Most likely it was some third-world virus courtesy of St. Vincent de Paul, Goodwill, illegal aliens, and the carrier for these things the last 10 years...my brother.

I give this a thumbs up.
That guy is just belting out the song, apparently without the aid of any synthesizers or other electronics. And he is just pitch-fucking-perfect.

Worth an encore. I'd have to stand on a chair to sing that high.
Maybe two chairs.

I've been sampling oodles of Christmas albums via Apple Music. Good god there's a lot of junk out there. Almost anything made in the last 30 years is absolute junk. Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" has to be that national symbol of junk Christmas songs. But I did run across an album by Alan Jackson: Let it Be Christmas. Yeah, it's country but that doesn't disqualify it. There's just a certain sound to it. It's not perfunctory. It's not over-produced. It's not the singer trying to drown the underlying song in his or her "style." Alan takes a gentle touch to the songs he does.
Does a credible version of "White Christmas" too. Again, this is country. And yet it's not "yucked up" country as would be so typical for a Christmas album. He's got a country voice. No getting around that. But I think it's an honest rendition. He didn't shit on the song.

If you like Sinatra-esque Christmas music, I can definitely recommend Seth MacFarlane's Holiday for Swing album.

I certainly don't expect general approval of this song. But I love how Leslie Odom Jr. turned this into a Christmas song. It's on his album, Simply Christmas:

The piece is a bit long, but I liked it very much. The author has clearly had many experiences similar to those I have had and is able to point out the dishonesty, stupidity and contradictions all too clear in Woke Cultural demands. Let me make clear that Woke is simply a new word for Communist. I could have written this paragraph from a similar life experience. This is one reason I have such contempt for these idiot Communist tools. They are too stupid to acknowledge other than to mock and belittle. Who needs such dimwits as friends? They are Christmas Lights dummy

It’s a song from Tommy sung br Ann-Margrock
It’s a weird-ass movie but Margrock is good in her parts.
