The Trump Conundrum
On Monday 8 August 2022, 30 FBI agents executed an early morning search warrant on the home of ex-president Donald Trump. Over the last 48 hours the ordinary non-political people on the street have expressed outrage. It is unclear what genius in the Justice Department authorized the raid but the result over the last 48 hours has not been good for the Administration of Joe Biden. Many commentators have referred to this as the of political tactic expected of a petty dictatorship in less developed parts of the world.
It remains to be seen if there was any real justified reason for the FBI action. In the over 100-year history of the FBI this has never happened with agents serving a warrant on an ex-president and probable candidate for president.
For the last seven years the political left has been obsessed with Donald Trump. In 2015 when he announced his candidacy for president most of the media and Democrat Party took it as a joke. By the end of election day in November 2016 the joke, for the left, had taken a deadly turn and Donald Trump soundly defeated Hillary Clinton for president. The left swore that this would never happen again.
Over the entire term of President Trump, Democrat Party officials, elected, appointed and activists made every effort to discredit, dishonor, and destroy President Trump. They all failed even two impeachment efforts in the last two years of his administration.
In 2020 with the world and our country suffering from the effects of the Covid-19 the presidential campaign was one of the most bizarre in American history. Joe Biden, the Democrat, seldom ventured out of his home in Delaware. When he made speeches in public, it was to small crowds in very controlled environments. President Trump did reduce the rallies but by summer of 2020 he was drawing record crowds in large outdoor settings. It appeared to most observers that President Trump would be re-elected.
In the background, in states that could be considered critical; Nevada, Minnesota, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia, leftists who hated President Trump, were working to create a massive voter fraud to ensure the election of Democrat Biden. When the voting day was over the election appeared to be solidly in President Trumps favor.
Suddenly at about 01:00 Wednesday morning vote counting in several of the above uncalled states stopped. Observers were sent home and it was assumed the ballot boxes were secure. Three hours later official counting resumed with a sudden surge in absentee and mail-in ballots bringing Joe Biden into a small but growing lead. By opening of business on Wednesday the networks were proclaiming Joe Biden as the winner. Charges of voting fraud, ballot stuffing and criminal activity appeared immediately.
President Trump initially questioned some results and by the second week of November was openly calling the election illegitimate and by December several states were also challenging the results, including petitioning the Supreme Court to adjudicate the results. This effort came from 21 states and the court stood silent. Although, three justices did want to hear the evidence from the case. All attempts to investigate the creditable claims of voting fraud were turned away by the courts and the investigative arms of congress.
On January 6, 2021, people gathered in Washington DC to protest the election. President Trump addressed the crowd and as part of his remarks asked the crowd to “peacefully” take their protest to the capital steps.
Either by intentional incitement by provocateurs or accident the protest turned into a riot and many people went into the capital building unlawfully. Capitol police were unable to control the crowd, and national guard troops, who had been offered by President Trump before the event and refused by the Speaker of the House, were not called in.
Joe Biden went to work, or rather former President Obama’s staff, and within the first week of the new administration. President Trump’s policies were being rolled back. The Keystone pipeline was the first to go followed by opening the southern border to millions of illegal immigrants and flying them to cities across the country.
President, now Former President Trump continued to hold rallies and as 2021 ended, America was beginning to feel the results of the election. The Biden Administration had spent several trillion dollars buying the support of the American people and it was backfiring. Inflation, which for over 30 years had been held in the low single digits expanded with energy prices leading the way. By mid-summer 2022 the price of regular gas had gone from $2.00 a gallon in January 2021 to over $5.00 a gallon and the price of diesel fuel, which runs farm equipment and delivery trucks was over $6.00 a gallon. The official inflation figure in August 2022 is 8.5%. For anyone who purchases groceries it is closer to 20%.
Former President Trump has continued to be very popular with republican and independent voters and his endorsement of candidates has been the deciding factor in the primaries. He has taken the position of elder statesman of the party and has been collecting political favors, in the traditional manner of a candidate or kingmaker.
The leftist media, big tech corporations and the Democrat Party have merged into a leftist/communist party seeking to control of every Americans life and using the emergency powers they assumed in 2020, (Covid Emergency) have made major inroads into everyday life. The pushback has not yet resulted in organized violence from the right; however, the left has either failed to see the signs of disgust or just doesn’t care. With the mid-term election under 90 days away and the popular support for the Biden administration falling daily, some polls place him in the low 30% approval and all of them below 42% even by democrat pollsters.
There has been a lot of talk about a dramatic shift in the House and Senate in the November mid-terms. President Biden looks and acts increasingly frail, senile, and often not lucid. It appears obvious that he will not be a candidate for president in 2024. On the other hand, former President Trump at 76 is vigorous active and, at the moment, appears fully capable of handling the stress of President, which Biden clearly is not.
So, we return to the FBI raid on Trump’s home and the January 6 inquisition. The two seem linked if not by intent, then by accident. The supposed purpose of the committee was to investigate the riot and find those responsible and make recommendations for the Justice Department. In this supposed investigative role, the committee views itself as a new species of Grand Jury with the charge to find former President Trump responsible for the riot, every death in the capitol since the war of 1812 and foot fungus. In this role the committee has failed, and they know it.
With the political horizon increasingly dim for democrats the raid on former President Trumps home comes into more focus. If the Justice Department and FBI had any “smoking gun” evidence that former President Trump had broken the law, it would already be disclosed. Why the raid? To continue to attempt to paint Trump as a scofflaw. However, after five years of “got ya” politics from the left no one believes it except the kowtowing media talking heads and the other “true believers” in the throes of Trump Derangement.
For the last 15 years the left has been marching to the tune of disgracing America and Americans, always pushing until there is pushback and regrouping, pushing again. The question remains open for republicans, conservatives and like mined libertarians. Is this the final line and the hill to fight on? Sooner or later the grasp of the left will be so embracing that fighting back will be more difficult. Is the upcoming mid-term election so critical for the continuance of our republic? Many believe the election will not matter and the republic our fathers loved and fought for is dead, are they right?
