HALO
A Paramount + TV Series
This series is based on one of the most popular video games ever. First released as video game in the early 2000s it has lived the test of time through several generations of development. Originally developed as a shooter game the aliens (The Covenant) and humanity represented by the UNSC. If you are a committed HALO player, you are going to find the series disappointing.
There are new characters, a different story line that does not have the action of the video game. The silver team with Master Chief is basically the same but the characters are better developed and there is a real plot, as opposed to just shoot and kill aliens. The master Chief John (128) is played by Pablo Schreiber, a little over acted in the first episode but much better in following episodes.
The rest of Silver Team, Riz (028) played by Natasha Culzac, Vannak (134) played by Bentley Kalu, and Kal (125) played by Kate Kennedy, they do good supporting roles working with and for the Master Chief. The other principal characters Dr. Miranda Keyes (Olive Grey) and Makee (Charlie Murphy) round out the main cast.
The game HALO is another “bug hunt”, but the series develops the characters. The Silver Team is, of course, based on SEAL team 6 but in the 26th century. Space travel is common, and many different planets are settled. The game is more space opera, and the series is more serious science fiction. The CG is very good and having Stephen Spielberg as executive producer adds creditability to the show. There will be a second season that will be premiering in 2023. HALO is good science fiction that could be very good science fiction.
The series may not live up to Tim Lane standards but it does make pretty good TV.
