I started watching the first season of this a while back. I didn't stay with it. Frankly, I don't like Muslims and a show that was immersed in that element didn't interest me.
But I decided to just pick it up on season three where the Russians are the bad guys. And the first episode certainly was full of action...almost too much. It was a bit over-the-top in this regard.
But it was interesting and it drew me in to at least wanting to watch another episode.
I dislike the black affirmative-action "woke"-placed boss of Ryan's. It irritates me that someone who is so obviously Jack Ryan's inferior (as a character) is cast as his superior...and that in the real world she probably has this role only because the actress ticks off two check boxes.
But I like James Greer, his former boss (or something...I did skip forward from season one, so there's a lot of back-story that I missed). I'll see where this season goes.

I don't like Muslims and a show that was immersed in that element didn't interest me. Yep, I get it. I have more reason to dislike Islam then you. But, there is a good story there and the good guys win. The second season is set in Columbia and the co-star is Nomie Repace. Who plays a German spook. The good thing about this series is the lack of almost any coddling up to the "leftists". The bad guys are demonstratingly bad and the good guys, good. All three seasons have held to that standard and it appears to be working. I think the late Tom Clancy would be satisfied with what they have done with Jack Ryan.

Okay, thanks for the background. I'm through two-and-a-half episodes of season three. I think they shot their budget in that first episode though. And it was a pretty good one. I'm not so enamored with what I would say is an overly layered plot since then. To my mind, you can have too many irons in the fire and there isn't sufficient heat for any of them.
But I'll watch some more.

I'm still working my way through the third season. I've just started the seventh episode. The nuclear bomb just went off in the tunnel and now Ryan travels back to Russia to work with Luka to expose the cabal of Putinesque hardliners who are trying to start a war with the West.
Favorite character: James Greer with an honorable mention to Luka
Most warmed-up-to-character that I didn’t like initially: Nina Hoss who plays President of the Czech Republic, Alena Kovac. They neither overplay her as a ball-buster nor as an obvious fashion-model-actress trying to pretend to play a real person with responsibilities graver than cosmetics.
Somewhat warmed-up-to character: Elizabeth Wright (Ryan's immediate boss). She started out as little more than a token-black character. But instead of using her as the stereotypical nagging boss, they did add some depth to the character as time went along.
Least-liked character: Petr.
Don't ask me to comment on the plot. If you watch this, you just have to accept what is going on. Don't think. Don't even suppose. I get by doing that.

Artler, I did end up liking season three of Tom Clancy. It started strong (I think they blew half their budget in the first episode) and finished strong.
But in between the plot was riddled with improbabilities. But I bet Putin hates this series because the bad Russians didn't win.
That's not to say the Russians left in charge were particularly good. But at least Jack saved the day and the Bad CIA Director was ousted. We need a lot of house cleaning for the other U.S. agencies as well.
But what a good recruiting poster for the CIA.

Season 4 of Jack Ryan is out. I just started watching the first episode. Early days, but so far so good.
