In case anyone needed to be reminded of the veracity of this thread's title, I will recount a story I heard earlier this week. This was told to me by the lady's father.
As a a teenager the young lady came to a decision as regards the future course of her life. She determined that she would perform well in school, go to university and then to law school. From there she would go to Washington D.C. and after some years become a Senator.
She followed he map and did well in school, went to law school on a scholarship and upon graduation departed for D.C.
She ended up working in some government agency, I believe. After a year or so, she returned to Texas and someone asked her if she was still planning to be a Senator. She replied no, her plans had changed. When asked why, she replied that every politician in D.C. is corrupt. If he isn't corrupt when he first arrives in D.C., he becomes so within six months. Otherwise, he cannot survive. The system will not allow it. Crooks can't afford an honest man among them.
As she didn't want to be corrupt, she gave up on her plans to become a Senator.
And that, boys and girls, is the way things are. It is one of the reasons I sometimes shake my head when people get so hot and bothered about Trump, as if he were the Devil and his political enemies were choir boys.
If further proof were needed of the extreme mendacity of our political class, one would only have to take a look at the abomination that our representatives in the House and Senate are presently trying to pass on spending. Crooks to the left, crooks to the right, crooks as far as the eye can see.

More good news. The Great White Whale, aka Moby Dick, aka gluttonous-ex-governor Chris Christie is dropping out of the Repukelican presidential primary race. The Whale Sinks

Even on a good day, I couldn't see the appeal of Chris Christie.

That jibes with everything I've heard. I'm pretty sure that if Mr. Smith wants to go to Washington that he'd better bring along an Uzi nine millimeter.

For those who trust politicians and bureaucrats, here is a piece to remind you of the actual state of things. Contaminated blood knowingly given I have read of other such HIV crimes. I believe one was in France, but I can't be sure my recollection is correct. But some 14,000 elderly French died during an extreme heat wave, in part due to the indifference of the French government and bureaucracy. The government was warned that many would die unless personnel were recalled from their August vacation. None were recalled and many died.
The KFF criminal fraud was the largest such crime in history and many still don't seem to get it.

Yep, KFF is the biggest fraud ever perpetrated by the medical establishment. The death toll from the ill-advised jab is unknown at present.
As for the contaminated blood, I didn't read every word in that article. But I didn't get any impression for why there was this fraud. Did someone make money because they didn't have to go through normal procedures? Was political correctness the cause, with many thinking it was being "homophobic" to screen out homosexuals or "insensitive" to screen out drug users?

Perhaps fraud is the wrong word. Crime might be better. The link below is to an article about how hemophiacs got screwed with a new wonder drug. I recall this episode myself. Due to the medical authorities not testing all blood donations, lost of contaminated blood got into the system. They knew this but went ahead.
I do believe they started cleaning up blood donations after this came out but many got infected.
But I read somewhere recently that they are going to again allow people with HIV to donate blood.

It's certainly reasonable to argue over "acceptable risk." From the above, it sounds as if the regulator was either stupid or paid-off. I mean, if the above is true, it sounds as if Baxter was up-front about the risk and the regulators didn't do their job.
When even the WHO is saying something sensible, you kinda have to wonder who the drug companies paid off. And there must have been some significant payola involved.
The drug companies, even back then, were sociopathic in regards to profits.
You've obviously seen Charlton Heston in Soylent Green. This has that vibe to it.
Now that has the definite ring of the idiots we still have around us today. Don't say anything critical of homosexuals or the harm their behavior causes because that would be "homophobic,."
Says more than likely the same people who support abortion, even up until the moment of birth.
It doesn't sound as if "first, do no harm" was a concept that most doctors were familiar with.

The link is to a list of the largest fines imposed on Big Pharma. This doesn't include the $26 billion legal settlement by 4 companies due to the opioid crisis.
I hope people realize that Big Pharma is also a major backer of the present WHO treaty which is being foisted on all of us. If this treaty is approved, all countries will give up their sovereignty to WHO bureaucrats who are run by globalist leftists and Big Pharma interests.

This piece made me wonder about what congressmen's pensions were. As I thought, they are soaking the public. Ex-congressmen reaching the age of 62, who have served at least 5 years in congress receive a minimum of 80% of their last salary. Ex-congressmen reaching the age of 50, who have served at least 20 years in congress also receive a minimum of 80% of their last salary. Today's congressional salary is $174,000. 80% of that is $139,200. Of course, this is peanuts compared to the grift and graft they make while, and after, they "serve" but it is still pretty good.
