Auloea battery-powered mini vacuum
Whatever the case may be, the Roborock Q7 robot vacuum that I purchased last year has gone a long way to at least vacuuming the carpets and keeping them clean.
But I have tons of shelves and they get dusty. Yes, you can clean them with one of those special microfiber clothes, and I often do that. But neither these clothes nor a full-sized vacuum (in particular) work well if you just want to spot-vacuum here or there without a lot of fuss.
I've had my eye on some larger hand-held battery-powered vacuums. But they would essentially achieve nothing for my office. I could do the same thing with an AC-powered vacuum. And they are not cheap, coming in at $50.00 and up. And they are, from a vacuum-attachment standpoint, just as bulky.
So I took on the little Auloea mini-vacuum. It's twenty dollars, so that's not a large investment. After charging it (and that does take a couple hours), I used it last night and this morning. And it made it fairly easy to vacuum in tight places, or to vacuum delicate objects (there is a brush attachment). The vacuum is in one hand, and with the other I can move things off the shelf in order to vacuum under them or around them.
No, it's possibly not as complete or thorough as using a microfiber cleaning cloth. And yet because (I've found) that it's fairly easy just to whip out the mini-vacuum and have a go at this shelf or that shelf as you see that it's needed, it's much more likely that I will use it.
There is, of course, a return policy on this but I'm very much going to keep it. The official battery life is 25 minutes. I'd say you get a good 20 minutes out of it. And I find that adequate.
This thing (at least on Amazon) is advertised as a car vacuum. But I can't imagine trying to tackle anything as large as a car (with all its carpets and upholstery) with one of these. That just seems absurd. If you need a battery-powered vacuum, that's probably when one of these large Black-and-Decker units would work better. The Auloea is just too small to think of it as any kind of rug vacuum.
But it seems to work well for reaching tight places or vacuuming delicate nick-knacks. And because you're not having to get out a larger AC vacuum and all that entails lugging it around and managing the power cord, I think I'll be way more likely to use this small battery-powered vacuum. If I see something that needs vacuuming, I can just grab the Auloea and go at it.
My office gets quite dusty. I don't know why. All the windows are sealed fairly well. Maybe there's just so much dust in the air because we're right next to a major thoroughfare.
