During their debates last week, every Democrat candidate for president declared themselves for open borders.
Yesterday, my wife and I had a heated discussion with a Jewish lady of liberal persuasion who complained that the USA was not admitting enough refugees and was treating those coming in through our southern border as criminals and keeping them in inhuman conditions. As we were disagreeing with her she accused us of having "no humanity."
After giving this much thought, I believe I have come up with a huge win-win solution to our immigration problem.
The United States should open its borders to millions of East Asian females. All females from Burma to Japan, from Singapore to Hokkaido (i.e. from a latitude of 0 degrees i.e. the equator to about 46 degrees North and a longitude of about 95 degrees East to about 138 degrees East) should be allowed free entrance into these United States. I ask the reader to think of the many advantages such a policy would bring with it. For example, this should please the left as we would be giving preference to females of color, many from poorer countries. And it should please the right because it would, no doubt, bring about an increase in the birthrate of America. Would this not be a boon to mankind?
Reviews and Things can now justly claim being the originator of a wonderful proposal to combine increasing immigration with saving America. You heard it hear first!
Demand Congress pass the law and that the president sign it. Now. It is your patriotic duty!!!

Hey KFZ: Glad to hear your voice is not yet silenced. Had long looked forward to your comments on IT - and now perhaps with R&T. Immigration, for the most part, cannot be discussed in public anymore in the state where I live - and so I must carefully select news and blog sites that have at least a modicum of sanity. R&T appears to be such a place. I watched with interest as Homan dissected AOC questions and do not doubt the Democrat party (with Republican party leadership assistance) wish to dissolve our borders - and damn the consequences. Your plan might have the effect of at least diluting the influx pool with people that might actually contribute.

Dave,
Glad you have located R&T. There are so many insane comments on the web that places like ST and now R&T provide a refuge for those of us who have not completely lost our minds.
I also saw some of Homan's testimony and am glad he pushed back against the dishonest criminals commonly known as Democrat Congressmen and women.
I read Trump's comments saying those who don't like it here "can go somewhere else" and laughed. My wife, who is from S.E. Asia, thus my suggested solution to the immigration problem, agrees with Trump.
I see a new campaign coming which will be something like the one during the 1960s and 1970s. "America, love it or leave it." As much as they will try, I don't believe the progressives and RINOs will be able to counter Trump effectively on this. Clearly, Omar and her comrades do not love America and anyone who is watching things can see this. Even Lindsey Graham has come out and called Omar, AOC and Co exactly what they are, communists. Finally, some on the right are willing to say what we have been saying for years.
Some years back, I was asked by a friend in Hong Kong if I thought the Obamanation loved America. My reply was very simple and, I believe, definitive. "One does not try to fundamentally change what one loves, and Obama has used those exact words several times. So no, Obama does not love America." In fact, he must hate it if he wants to change it fundamentally.
AOC and those scum are of the same opinion and I am glad they are being called out.

You've hit on exactly why this won't harm Trump. "America -- Love It or Leave It" was indeed popular 50 years ago, and there's no reason it won't be popular today. People talk about how the Four Horse's Asses of the Apocaleft are just criticizing policies, but they spew hate at America as a country and its people. Trump was wrong in the sense that only Illmind the Jihadette was born overseas (in Somalia), but the She Guevara and Rashid the Jihadette are loyal respectively to Puerto Rico (which is part of America) and the Palestinian terrostans.
In any case, his version today -- if you hate it here, go someplace you like better -- was spot on. That should be just about anywhere (I suggest Cuba or Venezuela). And if there is nowhere you like better, admit it. (It's perfectly believable that they hate everything. I sort of expect that from the left, actually.)

But they won't go. The disparagement of America is not because of our history of---- fill in the blank. The left is only motivated by power. At some deep down level they know that never in human history have so many had so much of everything and American ideals are spreading across the world. They kno9w that the most prosperous nations are also the freest nations. There is no longer anyplace for the would be elites to exploit and it angers them. They actually do believe they are better than the average man, smarter, stronger and more insightful.
For these so-called elites America is an insult. We don't need them to tell us how to think, when to think, or who to vote for. It gauls their petty minds that America is the most powerful nation and it exists solely because of the common man. The real lunch bucket Joe who works all his life, stays married and raises his children with the same values.
They want to style themselves as intellectuals but they are the most anti-intellectual of the human species. Unless you conform and accept their way of thinking you are the enemy and they will use any tool they find to destroy your life. DJT threatens them.
He threatens them the same way Ronald Reagan did by expressing the opinions of the people. What the left seems incapable of understanding is that there is nothing they can accuse Trump of doing that is going to destroy his relationship with his base. The only person who can do that is Trump himself. The immigration question will be solved, not as soon as we may desire, but it will happen. Roe V Wade will be overturned and sent to the states for legislation. N Korea may or may not surrender their nukes, but their fangs have been pulled. The same is true of Iran, although the prospects of a regional war are still very high. The person most responsible for our booming economy is DJT who will be re-elected in November 2020. for those who desire for prediction 325-350 Electoral votes.

Well, I hope you're right. But America 2019 isn't America 1980, or even America 1988. If nothing else, we can see this demonstrated in California, which back then arguably leaned Republican. Nor was New York as solidly in favor of the Demagogues as it is today. The South generally already voted GOP in presidential elections, though less and less so in lower level elections.
And the demographics were very different then, which is one reason many of us are so concerned about the subject of this thread.

Mark Steyn has written a very good piece which touches on this question and the rapidity with which "Wokeness" (I first heard that word only a few weeks back) has expanded to go after denizens of the left and is now Leninist in nature. Is You Woke Yet?The scribatariat are finally catching up to where we have been for some decades.

Actually, Mark Steyn has been ahead of the curve for a long time. No doubt that has a lot to do with why National Review dropped him. As a reminder (it came up on ST, but that was many years ago), his last column there discussed political correctness and included a joke by Frank Sinatra that would generate a lot of controversy today: "How do you make a fruit cordial? Be nice to him." (Makes sense to me.)

It is true Steyn has been a voice in the wilderness regarding immigration, but I was thinking more of his observation that the left is now Leninist. We have been saying that the American left is literally communist for many years. There has been no hyperbole in our statements. Unfortunately, they have been simple statements of fact, which most Americans thought over-the-top. People are finally beginning to wake up. The question at hand....."Is it too late?"

Churchill said something like, Americans will try every possible solution before they try the right one. I think we are into the stage where trying the right one is happening.

ICE raided several chicken processing plants in Mississippi last week. In one day, they rounded up something like 680 illegal aliens working at these places. Unfortunately, they had to release many of these people because they had unattended children who needed to be taken care of. Note the illegal immigration lobby is already lying about this. Now, some of those chicken processing companies are trying to hire new workers. Funny how that works. Get rid of illegal alien workers and you have to try and hire actual Americans. Workers

Well, we can hope the new workers will be Americans. Or legal immigrants with valid green cards. We also can hope that the companies that hire so many illegal aliens face legal charges. They undoubtedly violated Mississippi law, but the Attorney General is a Demagogue so he won't do anything about it.

We certainly can. For many years, I have maintained the only sure way to get a grip on illegal immigration is to start indicting those who hire them. Frog march a few shackled company CEOs out their offices into waiting paddy wagons and others might take notice.

The link is to a nice article at The Federalist which discusses the true costs of illegal immigrants to the USA. Real Costs of IllegalsI went into this in some detail in my first 4 or 5 articles for the old ST.

I've encountered that $135 billion estimate of the direct costs of illegal aliens. Of course, Beltway Bandits love to spend money and don't much care who it's spent to benefit as long as the beneficiaries are supporters (or the mascots of supporters). That's why they don't care about this. Libertarians ought to care, but they support illegal aliens as reflexively as leftists do.

I came across a similar number when I wrote my articles for ST in 2013. I had a lot of info on costs from places like Los Angeles. If anything, I suspect the number is higher. Many school districts do not want anyone to know the actual number of illegal alien children attending classes.
In my days of subbing, I even had Mexican kids telling me they were going to have the Reconquista of the American Southwest by Mexico.

This is the problem of a large group of immigrants (legal or illegal) from an adjacent, not always friendly, country: their irredentist desire to reaquire what they call Aztlan. As far as California goes, I might even be willing to let them have it.

The link is to an article reporting someone going to jail for employing illegal aliens. Finally. Jail TimeAs is to be expected, the man going to jail is small fry. He employed a couple of illegals. When the president of a large company, which employs dozens or hundreds of illegals goes to jail, I will believe progress is being made. Other fat-cat law breakers will also take notice.

Corporate bureaucracy probably makes it difficult to target corporate executives. The people directly at fault are the human resources people. Of course, when there are hundreds of illegal aliens working in a place, you have to think top management encouraged it. But proving it is another matter. Of course, if the fines are big enough to make shareholders want to impose changes, that may catch management's attention.
