Upgrades

I'm testing a new sidebar plugin. I like the "Participated" box. But what would be handy would be just a straight list of the last post. Even the "Recent Posts" menu item, while okay in some respects, is flawed because there is no link to the particular post it lists. It will just take you to the first page of the thread which isn't very useful.

The new sidebar squeezes the home page, but I don't know if that's actually a problem, or is just a surprise the first time you see it. If so (as I suspect is the case), we'll get used to it soon. Off-hand, I didn't see any indication that anything was missing that had been there, so the effect is probably just cosmetic.

I made the "Recent Posts" window narrower and made it extent to the right rather than centering the two together in the browser window as a unit.

Thanks. I'd like to make the text a little smaller. A peculiarity of the way this forum has things is that the "style" of the tex is "link text." And all the "link text" (such as the links we post for stuff) are all tied to one setting. So if I change one, I change all.

I can work with it the way it is. And I may try reducing the text size an tiny bit. But at least it does seem to work. And it may make superfluous the "Recent Post" menu item. Or perhaps not considering that that menu item is always available.

For some reason the new "Recent Threads" (which seems to work fine as a "Recent Posts" mechanism" despite the title of that window) is visible only on the home page. I'll try to contact the developer at some point to see if I we can get a work-around. I'd also like to change the title to just "Recent" so that it doesn't wrap onto two lines.

There's actually a setting for having the "Recent Threads" sidebar appear on pages other than the home page. But it expands it only to some of the "special" pages such as Profile and Messages. It must also consider "Recent Posts" special as well. My search will continue on how to make everything special. Sort of a bonkers setting for this kind of plugin that it wouldn't at least have an option to post on every page.

Thanks. I noted the problem earlier when jumping around the site.  Your solving it makes things much easier to follow. Less time is wasted and moving around becomes somewhat less confusing.

I've tinkered around a bit more with the look of "Recent Threads." It's set to show the 20 most recent posts so I'm hoping it does. Go ahead and test a little by posting and we'll see if it does hold 20.
