No one ever actually said Jack the Ripper was non-violent. However, that follows from the CDC's statement. They should have known better. But no doubt they're leftists, so no one should expect common sense from them.
Now that rapid tests are becoming widely available, we'll start to find out how widespread the Wuhan flu really is here in America, and how fast it's spreading. And if it turns out the death rate isn't far from that of a normal flu, the economy might start to recover as people come out of their homes again. But we'll still have people pushing panic to further their own agendas.

I have seen that it is claimed that some in Ohio believe there are over 100,000 cases in that state. I don't know where that number originated, but if it is true I think it would be very good news. The number 100,000 is less than 1% of the population of the state and, as far as I know, there have been no deaths in Ohio.
That said, I understand how the constant pounding by the media will wear down some of those who do not usually fall for such nonsense. People must be constantly reminded to stay strong and reasonable.

The estimate comes from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, and was basically intended as being 1% of the state population. Many consider it a gross exaggeration. But since the Cleveland clinic is one of those with a new fast test, we should begin to get a good idea. If the totals jump that much, someone needs to point out what implications that has for the death rate, particularly aside from a single poor Seattle area nursing home.

The below regarding the situation in Italy is from the Austrian newspaper "Die Presse" i.e. The Press.
Italy is, by far, the worst effected country in Europe. Does this surprise anyone? Ciao bella.

I think Establishment Republicans are too wimpy to make that point. I think Trump can and will. And it's a good point.

Like all politicians, he wants to be seen to be on top of this situation. Plus, he will no doubt ask for money from the Federal Government. This second point needs to be remembered as it gives a very big incentive for the Cry-Wolf syndrome.

A very astute, concise, and well-written point. Comes from reading Churchill, I'm sure.

I just talked to a chick who works with the public (animal control). She’s totally of the mind that this is (wait for it) flu season. Yeah, maybe the elderly should be careful, but everyone else should just chill. She actually says (assuming she hasn’t already had it) that she tells people she wants to get it just so she can get it over with.
I told her (a complete stranger), “So, you’re not the helpless little snowflake we read so often about?” She laughed.

This is encouraging news.
Earlier this morning I saw something at Foxnews.com which was also good news. Some woman who had the virus said that it was not so bad. In fact, it was less troublesome than the flu for her.

This kind of "preponderance of no-big-deal anecdotes" could be where we're heading. But as my brother said, if Tom Hanks were do keel over, not so good for public perception. LOL. And I did indeed laugh when he said that.

I'm listening to a clip by Crazy Nancy about how they've passed (in the House) a Federal bill whose emphasis is on "testing, testing, testing." I wonder if these tests can tell if one has already had the virus and is over it or if it detects only active infections. If the former (and to some extent, the latter), it could bring to light that this is (wait for it) flu season.
Yeah, okay, I've heard it's not technically a "flu" virus, but you know what I mean.
And the idiots who have closed the schools. Well...normally I'd say getting kids out of the public schools is a good thing. But this is clearly more hysteria.

This article points out two very important things.
1. Bernie Sanders is either insane or an immoral scoundrel. (I know, who says he can't be both)
2. Computer models are, by their very nature, biased and should not be trusted. (Think Climate Change)
Never forget, bureaucracies like the CDC fill up their days creating such studies and try to make themselves important by releasing such studies.

These jerks fall back on such cliche's as "It is better to err on the side of caution, than to expose our students to the Wuhan-virus."
I had the same thought, but maybe it will not be so bad if some relative unknown does. The upside for the unknown would be that he or she would finally be famous. I would bet there are people in the entertainment business who would take that trade.

The stock market is up 1900. I don't trust that. But it would make sense that even the most dolt of an investor would see that these stocks were undervalued significantly.

Here’s the funny thing. My younger brother told me today that the local school district closed the schools. I asked if his son was then home playing video games? No. The closures actually begin on Monday.
WTF? If this is such a damn emergency, why in the world are they risking these children’s lives even one day more?

It's good to see that Dr. Fauci was at least a bit skeptical of models, and actually understands that a model is merely the working out of a theory. It's as good as the assumptions (i.e., the theory it models), and like any theory it must be validated by experiments or further observations.
It's also good that a lot of people, even now, aren't panicking over the Wuhan flu. Indeed, one can argue that if the left has some much time to complain that it's racist to call it foreign or associate it with Wuhan or China (even though the same people claiming this did so previously), then it can't be too bad.
Incidentally, other diseases commonly named after places (usually where first encountered or isolated) include: tularemia, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Lyme disease, ebola, Zika, West Nile virus, MERS, Lhasa fever, Marburg fever, and for that matter the Spanish and Asian flus. There's also African sleeping sickness (though that in fact only occurs in Africa), Legionnaires' disease (not a place, but a group meeting at a hotel where it was first reported), Dutch elm disease, and the vector for yellow fever (Aedes aegypti). For that matter, can we mention the Japanese beetle and the Colorado potato beetle?
That list probably isn't complete.

Bernie should be all for as many deaths as possible. This asshole idealizes the Soviet Union. And the Communist Party intentionally starved over 3 million Ukrainians just for fun.

I just watched part of Trump's news conference and his special advisor, Dr. Birx, mentioned that only 1%-2% of those tested in the USA so far, turned out to have the Wuhan flu. I believe she mentioned that somewhere overseas, I can't recall where, was only showing about 4% positive results. So it would appear that many, perhaps most, of the tests were made because people were in a panic.
