I thought that was a particular neighborhood in S.F. You know, something like the Lake Highlands area in Dallas.
Please don't expose the government-run school systems for what they are.

I don't know if the negative tests result from panic. No doubt many people have been exposed to the Wuhan flu without catching it. One advantage of the testing is that we get a better idea of how contagious it really is. And of course there are no doubt people with flu or even colds who have been exposed to it who want to be sure of what they have.
Still, it's an encouraging number whatever its implications.
Incidentally, my nursing home is not permitting visitors for the time being. In this case that may be a wise precaution, because the Wuhan flu has shown up here and we here are obviously part of the most at-risk population. (For that matter, some of the staff may be.)

I think Sarah Palin has caught the coronavirus.

Well, she was talking about mama grizzlies in 2007, when Alaskan voters chose a grizzly bear on the state quarter and she cheered the decision, seeing it as a mama grizzly defending her young (something that would be a natural concern for her).
In 2008, I voted for the McCainiac mainly because Sarah Palin (who, incidentally, was the first suggestion Human Events made for possible running mates, which is when I first really heard about her) was on the ticket. I titled my FOSFAX article on the election "A Navy of One Against the Audacity of Hype" with the idea that the "navy of one" was really Sarah Palin. If Romney had won in 2012, I thought Palin would have made a good Energy or Interior Secretary.

I believe your original warning supersedes all others: She’s a politician. I like Sarah Palin. But I question her judgment in trying to suck up to the very cultural elements who were trying to bring her down. This looks like a surrender. And I think the first warning sign for me was when her daughter was seen to be a bit of a tramp.
And apparently Sarah Palin and Todd (I like that guy) have filed for divorce. This article says it is over "incompatibility of temperament." Me thinks ol' Todd has had enough of her three-ring-circus.
There's always two sides to the story. Blah blah blah. But I don't think I'm going too far out on a limb to suppose he's simply had enough.
And, in fact, reading a little further, it was Todd who filed for divorce.
By the way, did you get a chance to warn Todd, Mr. Kung?

I did not, but you know he would not have listened had I been able to.
One thing that I have learned in life is that virtually all of us must make and learn from our own mistakes. It is only the most wise who learn from the mistakes of others.

I can basically stop washing my hands now because I’m pretty sure I had the Armageddon Virus back in January. I was reading this article at RedState about some chick who got it: Women Who Have Had Wuhan Virus Share Message for Us: ‘Don’t Panic,’ Hysteria ‘Out of Control’“Shortness of breath” was the thing that caught my attention. I remember going out hiking in January and was surprised that I had a real shortness of breath out of nowhere…basically a type of asthma, for all intents and purposes. Coming from the generation (mostly) that doesn’t go to the hospital if their nose is running, I thought little more about it and just gutted my way through it and felt fine by the time I got to the top of the mountain. I had subsequently hiked since then, and although the "asthma" was still there at the beginning of my hike, by the time my blood was up and pumping, it went away. But for at least three weeks after, I did have this very mild shortness of breath and a bit of asthma. Very low-level. But I’ve been allergic to stuff all my life and although chronic asthma does not describe me, having seasonal problems with allergies sometimes does, although winter seemed odd because that’s definitely out-of-season for pollen and molds. So there you have it. This has been floating around Washington State since at least January and likely before that. And no doubt tens of thousand have already come down with a mild something-or-other that then went quietly away. It does sound like there is a distinct danger to the elderly. (Hey, I’m getting there at 62.) But my hunch is by the time they measure deaths-vs-infection rates, we’re talking about a flu season.

Nothing wrong with ambition or making money or clamoring for attention. But what I saw in the Palin video was “attention whore.” Me thinks the woman that Todd fell in love with has indeed changed. There’s no warning for that, per se. It’s just life unfolding and then you react to it. It’s too bad. This is a marriage of 31 years an no one should rejoice about it breaking down, as I’m very sure no one here is. But you know the rabble out there.
She should have first visited Kung and Nelson Political Consultants. We also have a family counseling sideline.

They had a lot on the Wuhan flu on Fox and Friends this morning. One patient still in quarantine from one of the cruise liners (naturally he was appearing remotely) discussed his symptoms, and estimated that on a scale from 1 to 10 with bronchitis (which he had once) being 8, this would have been a 2. He's in quarantine because he still tests positive, and there's a suspicion that the test is detecting dead viruses and unable to tell the difference.
Dr. Siegel, asked about a couple who had planned a trip to Key West, said that for those not in high-risk groups plane flights should be no trouble if they take proper precautions
The Wuhan flu is certainly a problem, and may well end up worse than a standard flu (and added on top of the usual flu season). But I think the panic-buying is unnecessary, and the shutdown of so much of the economy equally so. Except maybe cruise ships.

I think that’s a reasonable conclusion. But reason has nothing to do with what is happening now. I went to Winco last night and the shopocolypse is definitely upon us. The vegetable department was all but wipe out. (Vegetables?) There was not a banana to be had. Loaves of bread were all but gone (I got some bagels).
Strangely, just as a normal replenishment, I needed some butter. There was no stick-butter (real butter) to be had. It was all gone. There was plenty of milk but the paper-towel/toilet-paper aisle was completely cleaned out.
And the place was full of illegal aliens. The only real hoarding I saw was an illegal alien who was (strangely) filling an entire shopping cart with cookies. I’m not exaggerating in the least. I grabbed some non-fat fig bars while in the area. But are packaged cookies a favorite with illegal aliens? It would appear to be so, or at least for this one guy.
There was certainly no panic occurring as in untoward behavior. Everything was completely calm. It was just packed with people buying stuff. Granted, this particularly store is normally packed at all hours anyway. And I won’t be surprised if they have things restocked fairly soon. But I’ll wait a day or two before testing that theory.
I may be wrong, but I think Trump declaring a “state of emergency” was just throwing gasoline on the fire.

I believe there is a pretty good chance you did have it. There is no doubt that this has been floating around China since early/mid November at the latest. With all the flights between China and the USA, particularly during that time of year, Thanksgiving, end of term, Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year, it would have been impossible for the virus not to have touched our shores.
As I said, my son had a cough and high fever for several days in Dec or Jan. He was not particularly tired or visibly sick. The medical test found he had a cold. I am no expert, but I do not believe that they used a specialized test for the Wuhan flu and guess that a corona virus i.e. cold, would show up as a cold.

Non-perishable food. If one doesn't have a refrigerator or if the electricity goes out you can survive for months on Oreos. Yuk.
Which points out the idiocy of hording toilet paper. If the bottom falls out and there is no electricity or water, which is what these people seem to think will happen, there will also not be very much food left so toilet paper usage will drop drastically.

If there were no water, toilets couldn't be flushed, though toilet paper would itself be useful. Incidentally, I read that most toilet paper is made in America (we have plenty of trees for making paper, especially if you add in Canada), but the cores are made in China. If need be, toilet paper rolls can be made without them. It certainly wouldn't be the problem we could have with drugs and other medical supplies.
I notice that people meeting Trump now have their temperatures checked. This can be done very quickly with some sort of thermometer that is pressed against the head and gives a reading within seconds. I think this is becoming part of the regular check at our nursing home. (My reading this morning was 97.3, so it would seem I definitely don't have any sort of fever. However, I once read that the norm varies depending on where you check. That was back in the old days of oral, rectal, or armpit readings that took a minute or so.)
The nursing home is also banning group activities, and people now eat in their rooms even when they would normally go to the cafeteria. (I'm bedridden anyway, so this doesn't affect me.)
When Trump had his press conference yesterday with the Pence group and various CEOs, a lot of deranged leftists (including Stephen King) made a big point of noting that it was all white men. They had to correct themselves when it was noted that Pence's group includes 2 women who were in the photo (one of whom is a wee bit darker than your average white, Dr. Seema Verma, who's probably an Asian, but never mind). I suppose King and his court blame Trump for all those CEOs being white men.

Yes, it’s very possible your son has already had it. But it’s tough to distinguish a cold from a flu from the various viruses floating around. Thank goodness for the all-purpose human immune system invented by God, not Darwin.
The funny thing is, I was at Winco the prior day and bought some toilet paper, hand soap, and a few things. It was all available. I think when Trumped announced “state of emergency,” it caused the pent-up panic to break out.
I read an article (forget where) that noted that the upscale places (Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods Market, etc.) are getting their shelves cleaned out while normal grocery stores in non-yuppie areas are pretty much business as usual. This is a fast-moving thing so I don’t know if that still applies. But it is consistent with what Dennis Prager was saying: The “better educated” are the bigger idiots.
Still, I wonder what the illegal alien was going to do with all those cookies. You wouldn’t figure that would be the kind of thing that would be in demand on the black market. “Psssst. Hey, señor. You want some double-stuff chocolate Oreos?”

I had thought it was a flu because of the fever, but the doctor told my wife the test showed it was a cold. That was odd to me as the colds I get or my son has had before do not cause fevers of 102 for a period of 4 days or so. He also didn't have a runny nose or other such symptoms.
My wife's friend told her that she was at Sam's yesterday or the day before to buy some soap and there were two Chinese girls staring at the empty shelf where liquid soap was normally displayed. They said to each other, "oh, there's no more soap" in a mournful manner. My wife's friend had to laugh as on the same shelf directly to the left were piles of bar soap. People really are idiots.
Maybe he is expecting a run on sweets and snacks for those many pot-heads getting the munchies.
We went for our weekly Friday-night Italian supper yesterday and there was absolutely no difference in the amount of traffic on the roads. That may not be a very scientific metric, but it works for me.
I can report that the restaurant owner confirmed that the number of take-out and home-delivery-pizza orders are up somewhat.

I’m not a doctor. I just play one on TV. But my older brother went to the doctor with something and the doctor said it couldn’t be the Armageddon Virus because he didn’t have a fever.
I’m certainly not trying to play this thing down. But I just met with four guys just a second ago and they have zero concern for this virus and think it’s all overblown.
You married one of the smart, pretty, and noble ones. But they are a vanishing breed, it seems.
I’d never thought of pot-heads as a good source of black-market income for cookies. Could be.
No difference in traffic on the roads here either from what I can see. Unless you get people dropping like flies, people are going to soon figure out that they’ve been had.
Take-out meals being up seems sensible.

The guy who was on Fox who was still quarantined mentioned having a serious fever for about 8 hours and a dry cough, but not the nasal problems you usually get with a cold or flu. (With my chronic sinusitis -- that's why I don't recall ever having a sense of smell -- this can be hard for me to detect.)
I hadn't known this until Colorado (which is Spanish for "colored", especially brown, so maybe the state needs to change its name if it remains under Demagogue control), but apparently heavy marijuana use makes a person very hungry. So Oreos would be very popular, especially the double-stuffed. But they can always get more at the store (or something comparable), so I doubt there's much to be gained by buying them for resale. Of course, if the illegal alien were himself a user . . .

I've heard that the virus spends some time in the throat before heading to the lungs. So if you feel something coming on, gargle. I don't think that could hurt even if this report is complete baloney.
