Glad to become a Jewish hillbilly. I think if Jesus had had an iPod, he’d have listened to this stuff.

Jesus had had an iPod He probably did. Many of the melodies NM use are traditional and have roots centuries old. What they have done is add the traditional with bluegrass instruments. Don't forget David played a Jewish banjo.

The Shroud of Turin might be a fake by I’m putting good money that this is real: Not sure what a Jewish banjo looks like, but could it have been something like this?

Shalom. Songs For the Sparrows is now available. I noticed that it turn up on Apple Music and I just started to listen to it. My slow conversion to Judaism (or at least to a Jewish hillbilly) continues. These are not things man can judge. Only G-d can know what is in my heart. Sorry about the dirty thoughts, Lord, for the lead singer. I can't help it. She's a singin' Jewish girl. I'm not coveting. Just looking.

My slow conversion to Judaism (or at least to a Jewish hillbilly) continues. Welcome to the path. I had a minor surgery today, nothing life threatening, removed a small cyst. As I was getting the pain killer and slowly passing out I said the Shema. “Hear, O Israel: G‑d is our L‑rd, G‑d is one.”It is the centerpiece of all Jewish theology and philosophy. Jews have been saying this prayer moving and evening for 6000 years. I acts as a form of last rites for Jews that are dying. No priest is necessary, or required just a direct line to G-d.

May your recovering be speedy. I'm glad it wasn't anything too serious.
I don't know if you'd heard the album, but you might agree that the stand-outs are the one (or two?) instrumentals. But it will take a couple listens to get a feel for the album. But it's certainly in line with what they've done before. That is, they're not doing Jewish rap.
A wonderful prayer.

Ah, another cyst producer. Ain't life swell? Cysts, skin cancer, bad joints...the joys of old age.

Well this cyst was an old friend. I first noticed it in about 1976. About three weeks ago it turned nasty filled with pus and blood, broke open in the shower. Had to take two weeks of meds to get the infection down. The cutter is a good surgeon low pain today but a little tired from all the meds. My wife says it is a sexy scar.

Last year I had several skin cancers removed. The sight of blood, even my own, doesn't bother me so I watched the surgeon cutting out the cancers and then stitching me back up. She went so deep that I could see my muscle. Each surgery left a 1.5-2 inch scar. After each surgery, I was surprised how tired I felt for a couple of days. This showed me that any such trauma, even under surgical conditions, stressed the body fairly significantly. Even more so when one is an old fart. I had no such trouble when I had all four wisdom teeth extracted under full anesthesia. Although I was told I would be knocked out all day long, the nurses dismissed me from the hospital a couple of hours after the surgery because I was up and about feeling just fine. I guess 50 years makes a difference.

It is better to be an old fart than to have farted out

Re-listening now. --- Yes, a really fine instrumental. I let it play one and found I really like the two songs that follow it.

I've listened to Song for the Sparrows a number of times now. I like it. I don't think the individual songs are anywhere near as outstanding as on the first album. But the general sound of the album is pleasing and very much in line with earlier efforts.

There's a new single from Nefresh Mountain that you can find at their home page. It's called Revival. It's okay. Didn't blow my socks off. But nice to hear something new from them.

$18.00 isn't bad for a ticket. We'll see. That would mean entering deep into The Forbidden Zone. Literally, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable going there.
Playing The Hucks even as we speak. I offhand don't see how they are a fit with Nefresh Mountain. They play pretty mediocre rock. The lead singer has no voice to speak of.

Tacoma would be way more doable. Even without the "homeless" and wall-to-wall libtards, traffic is a mess in Seattle. And Tacoma is much closer...just down the road, practically. We'll see. Thanks for the info.
