I like the previous photo of the creeping phlox that I took with my iPhone. I think it turned out well. Here’s a closeup view of the flowers produced by the Nikon digital camera: Larger ViewIt really is a pretty little flower.

One gets the feeling that heather is not a plant designed for OCD bumblebees. How could one choose?

Many trees are known not to have a good sense of balance.

Dogwoods in bloom are truly beautiful. There are some colorful ones fairy nearby. White flowers are very pretty but I'm really blown away by the red ones. If I get out and around, I'll see if I can snap a shot without freaking out the neighbors. DuckDuckGo image found at random

Here’s another shot of something from the garden. I don’t remember what kind of flower this is. But you can see the Nikon is doing a pretty good job capturing the details: Larger View

As I recall, those are "Forget-me-nots."

They may be forget-me-nots (as opposed to the Avengers episode in which Diana Rigg departs as Emma Peel and Linda Thorson arrives as Tara King), but they look like the violets we had a lot of. Of course, I never saw them that close up.
Brad's comment about trees having poor balance is apt. We had a tree in the front yard that had twinned trunks each leaning over, both of which eventually fell. One of them fell onto the driveway, but fortunately it happened while Elizabeth was out and therefore didn't hit her car. It still had to be cleared away.

I just finished trimming back some dead branches of a tree. It looks like one Timothy described. It’s falling all over itself. It grows in a way that I would say lacks grace. As soon as the leaves open out on this I’ll take a photo and see if we can figure out what kind of tree this is.

I got out today for a little mountain biking. It started off partly-cloudy then turned to mostly-sunny and was very nice. The idiot governor keeps the pot shops open but closes the parks. That means the private places such as this are pretty packed: Larger viewI went back to that pond. This is a shot looking into the water. Nothing much, but it is interesting to work with reflections. Larger ViewThis next one was shot at the very apex of my trip at the top of one particular mountain. It provides a stunning view of the Olympic Mountains. But I turned around directly behind me and thought the sun and the trees looked pretty nice. Larger ViewIn order to get to where I was going I had to cross this small creek. I thought the way the sun lit up the leafs of those water plants (whatever they are) was interesting. Larger ViewHere’s the water dappling, bubbling, and gurgling over the surface of the rocks. It creates interesting patterns. Larger ViewHere’s another similar photo.

I liked all those photos, but for some reason the water over the rocks is particularly fascinating to me. Perhaps because it is different from the standard nature photo.

Those water shots are fantastic! I zoomed in on the upper right portion of the first one, and did a screen shot. I'd pay big bucks, in real money... I'm talking really big money...for a print of that portion with the hint of purple in it.
I've been outside working (more like playing to me), potting up little plant starts. Well over a hundred. I really like to propagate plants. I've also re-potted and up-potted a bunch of my Japanese Maple trees, and started to train many future bonsai projects. And with the Gibbster home, we are getting alot of little yard projects and manly type maintenance done outside in the long awaited sunshine. I'm so sad when the sun goes down, and can't wait to get outside again. It is just so beautiful out, and the eagles, tweety birds, squirrels, and deer have been regular visitors.
Today we bought lumber for a trellis. It was like the good ole days at Lowe's and Home Depot, except for the masked masses yearning to breathe free. The essentials store parking lots were crowded, and the line at the teriyaki drive through was long.
But it is so quiet at our house. We can usually hear the hum and rumble of the shipyard - but not these days. I'll be a little sad when Mr. Gibblet has to (gets to?) go back to work. This free trail for retirement is something we would like to subscribe to. It feels like a vacation, but with fun projects and the convenience of home.
I hope each of you can find your own joy in these days, as well.

I rather like that "masked masses yearning to breathe free". Fortunately, as a patient, I haven't needed to wear a mask. They have to wear masks for a week. For that matter, there was a shortage of gloves yesterdau. which affected their taking care. Perhaps supplies are getting short.

Mr. Flu, I love poking my nose around the underbrush and seeing what I can find of interest. I wanted to take a video of that as well. The way the sun was coming from behind was creating a kaleidoscope effect. But videos are more troubles some to deal with because of the large file sizes. But I get back there again with the sun out, I may try that. The particular crick has a great gurgle, tremendous gurgle.

What size were you thinking? I could crop the original and send that to you if you have means to print it via a desktop printer. Or I could have a print made and pass on my costs.
They hydrangea you gave me is doing very well, as are the smoke trees. I was watching an episode of Gardener’s World on Britbox the other day. They often visit nice gardens. And they visited one that had this yuge smoke tree. And it really was a majestic tree, not just a large bush. When they get bigger, I’ll find a more permanent place for them somewhere.
Also, let me know if you have anything that would do well in 3/4 shade in and around a madrona. I’d like to line the driveway with some plants (the one that connects down to those condos). I’ve got a start with a rosemary (in the frontmost sunniest spot) but wanted to put a row of three or four things behind it.
Cue the music:
You can substitute these words:
I can’t plant, no more of your smoke trees All my seedlings are gone beyond my sight It’s getting dark and I stumble over hoses Trodding on the trellis in fading light
Too late for another trip to Lowe’s I have my mask but nowhere can I drive No daily bread, I’m going for some take-out Closed the car door and went for teriyaki delight
Don’t let the sun go dark on me (don’t let the sun) Although I have flashlights it’s never quite the same It’d just allow a few maples To be seen… Cause moving to the night is like social distancing
Well put.

Your lyrics are great Brad. I think you have a future in song writing.
Hopefully you received my emailed request for a photo. If you want to deliver it, I'll give you a free garden tour! And you can take home some plants for your garden. Maybe some vine maples?

That’s nice of you to say. Sort of. Have you listened to what pop music sounds like? You might as well say, “Brad, you’d make a nice sewer technician.”
I only jest. I think.
The free garden tour sounds good. If I bring Bryan along, is that okay? We might double it for a trip to Lowe’s. I’ll give you a text or call first. Do we have to wear hazmat suits? Or maybe you just have a large “people dip” akin to a sheep dip for people who stop by. What time would be best?

Some really nice white fluffy clouds on a bright blue background. This may be a common scene in big-sky country. But I can assure you it’s pretty unique here on the Left Coast. Larger ViewThis is not out of my garden, as such. But the land it’s on (an unused strip owned by the school district) is right next door. I’ve been denuding of blackberries, ivy, and scotch broom over the last five years. Slowly but surely it's changed from a mess to something that is a little more tended. However, this is still all wild stuff and it’s pretty interesting to see what takes root. There’s an apple tree very close by as well as some oregano and daffodils. I think the dappled sunlight really makes this one work. Larger View

This made be more “nature’s patterns and textures” than will tickle most people’s eye. But the grass really is somewhat stunning with the red, green, and yellow wending through it. Larger View

I can't make up my mind, but that photo looks like a 36" x 36" print of it should be either on a doctor's wall or in some business office.

Brad, I think the grass shot is great. I am drawn toward texture and color in photography. Those qualities are what appeal to me in the stunningly beautiful "Stones In A Creek" print you delivered to us today at the Gibbnonymous Nursery and Garden Deli. If you could please print up a 5x7 of this one as well, I think the two photos would make a good start to an attractive photo collage.
