The Chinese must think we are idiots. Wait...I also think we are idiots. Funny how conservative thought meshes better with Putin and the Chinese these days than they do with your typical America. Both these countries groaned for decades from the excesses of Communism. They know better than we do about what to avoid.
That's not to say that China isn't a communist country. But it's not one driven by the impulses of irrational, 13-year-old girls, or the mindset thereof.

Regardless what one thinks of Putin or the Chinese, both are rational. They live and operate in reality. It is more rational to deal and exchange ideas with such people than people who are delusional. At least the basis on which a discussion might take place is grounded in shared perceptions.
A large percentage of Americans, particularly the Demonrats and young people live in Never-Never Land. One cannot have a rational conversation with them. One cannot build on or plan for the future when "reality" is nothing more than will- o'-the-wisp "truth"which is constantly changing.

Speaking of Putin. Russian pair sentenced to 10 months for obscenity before a church Good for Vladimir. He has figured out that the constant denigration of a culture's icons and foundations is damaging to a country. Such actions create divisions between groups which are very raw, particularly in countries with non-homogeneous populations. The Muslims take care such sacrilege themselves. Note, the male in this crime is very likely a Muslim. No problem insulting Christians for him.

Good points, Mr. Flu. No doubt that attribute of non-crazy provides a lot of common ground. That's the size of it. You cannot have a rational conversation with arguably 60% of Americans over the age of, say, 14.

Absolutely. "Tolerance" has become a suicide pact in the West.

Just for democrats the philosophy must be:
Life is like a sewer, you only get out of it what you put into it.

I think Kurt outlines the probability that all that a rational person can do at this point is move out of the cities and leave them to their fate.
My brother last summer asked me if I wanted to visit New York. I politely told him that I would not feel comfortable visiting that hell hole. I don’t think he understands. But I do. Why in heck — considering all the places to go and all the things to see —would I want to go to the zoo? And that’s pretty much how I consider these big lib-run cities.
I live right across from one of them. I don’t get out a lot anyway. But I have zero desire to go to Seattle. Why would I? Why support this beast in any way? That’s my view. Plus, it really could be risky. I would go if I had Artler supporting my back but that’s about it.

I would go if I had Artler supporting my back but that’s about it. Anytime you require an old marine with a caustic attitude to watch your six, I am there. What is your attitude on belt fed weapons?

I don't think there would be any problem getting them over on the Washington State Ferry from Bremerton. They don't check your car for that kind of thing.
I think we could modify some wheeled luggage to disguise the belt fed weapon. Should be doable.

Mr. Flu, I'm wondering if the depleted uranium ammo of A-10 might be overkill, even for Seattle. Still, it would be fun to have a go.

That grenade launcher is so cool. That would clear out antifa and BLM from the streets.

I'm wondering if the depleted uranium ammo of A-10 might be overkill, even for Seattle. The gun is optional equipment in Arkansas on F250 pickups, and is some counties it is required on all F-350 pickups. However, the depleted uranium is difficult to find.

This may at first glance seem not to belong here. But I think the elites promoting our therapeutic culture have sold us out as well. I'm still messing around with this AI program on my iPad. I asked it "What is the meaning of life?" I didn't expect much of an answer, but you never know. It answered: A bland, fortune-cookie type of answer. What is "fullest?" I ask: I wasn't talking about giving up. But whatever. Something slightly novel slipped in. I told it that that was an interesting philosophy. It responded: Okay. That's another way of saying "Life is about maximizing pleasure." Bland. Heartless. Soulless. If I asked a Klingon what the meaning of life is he might say "To die honorably in battle." That's certainly not something you'll find in fortune-cookie wisdom. So I try again: "What does living life full mean to you?" Okay, that's a very democratic, almost politically-correct answer. "I should learn from my mistakes," blah blah blah. But so few do. After asking another tangential question, the AI responded with: That sounded more like a Hillary Clinton speech than sound life philosophy. Then, hoping to perhaps trick the AI into saying something novel, I asked it: "Could life be about more than just personal fulfillment?" And the people-pleasing AI responded "Absolutely." So there you have it. Life is about "fulfillment" unless it's not. I asked the AI to tell me more. It said: But what if I was a Nazi? What if Nazism was my "core values"? I thought. This is the kind of bland fortune-cooking wisdom that I guarantee you that 9 out of 10 chicks would rate as deep and astounding. And I'm very sure the AI was programmed by chicks and girly-men. Certainly no Klingons had a hand in it.
But we see the "Cult of Choice" in all this. It's not necessarily *what* you choose. It's *that* you choose, a very consumer-oriented mindset.

This is so true that about mid-way through your post I thought of those big Eight Balls we thought so cool when we were kids.

Hey, at least the 8-ball was useful, if only for a laugh?
So what is the meaning to life? Believe me, it's hard not to give a fortune-cookie answer. "It's whatever you make if it." True true. But the question is not "What does life mean to you?" It's "What is the meaning of life?" Objectively. It's asking not what you think the Rama craft is for (assuming your guess was not correct). It's what it's really for.
So the answer to the question is "Not enough information." And that's fair enough. But any lesser or dishonest answer is bound to sound like something written on a fortune-cookie.
That's not to say a religious answer is shallow or inappropriate. But in the concept of "God" contains a heaping spoonful of "not enough information." So I do find it to be an honest and meaningful answer. Depending, of course.
