Maybe he should have said, "Nobody negotiated with Hitler and came out the better for it."

He certainly should have. Amazing how a simple conjunctional phrase makes all the difference in the world. Had the idiot used your formulation, he would not only have been honest, he would have appeared to be giving good advice. As it was he just looked like a dick.

I'm sure there are always exceptions too. I would imagine a few Swiss banks and a few entities in Sweden made out okay.

The willingness to resist seems to be everything. Who really knew going into this? What we can say for sure is that most Americans are not willing to resist incursions on their liberty even if the price they pay for doing so is merely bad things being said about them on social media...not bullets, as the Ukrainians face.
I don't know how much outside assistance is coming in. But surely some is. What we can now say for certain – the blinkers being pulled even from the most partisan eyes – is that Putin is evil. And evil must be resisted. If we don't share common cause against his brutality then what exactly is our cause?

This "Frontpagemag" piece gives a good idea of the hypocrisy on display from just about all sides in the Ukraine-Russia war. I assure readers, our elites are making plenty of money on this. The Ukrainian oligarchs are taking their cut as well. This is how war works. The Ukraine making billions by letting Russian gas flow

Goldman (Spengler) makes a good case and in recent history waiting out Western interest in a war does have some merit. The propaganda coming from both sides almost completely obscures what is actually happening on the ground. I don't think Putin started out waiting for western disinterest. He wanted a quick decisive victory. However, now that it has turned to a quagmire, waiting it out could be his best strategy. The last time this strategy was tried did not turn out well, US vs Taliban or US vs N. Vietnam or Soviets vs Afghanistan. The one truth we can be sure of is thousands are and will die before this is over.

This is true, but the amount of Russian propaganda which gets through to us flows in a trickle, whereas that which we are hearing from the West is a virtual Niagara Falls. That alone should give everyone pause. Hell, our rulers have come out and admitted that they are making stuff up. While I understand the desire to confuse the Russians, I believe the lies being spread to Americans are wrong and damaging. And I don't believe the Russians are being confused at all. They are, after all, on the ground in the Ukraine. To give a true idea of how the Europeans actually view the situation, look at what they have done. Since the beginning of the Ukraine-Russian war, countries in the EU have paid Russia something like 35 billion Euros for energy. That's almost US$40 billion. The same group have given the Ukraine about US$1 billion in various types of aid. A number of countries in the EU will not cut off Russian energy shipments as to do so would cause their economies to collapse, thus doing damage which would last for many many years.

The idea of Putin as a corrective has now been thoroughly debunked. His soldiers have most likely been raping and torturing the Ukrainians. Whatever faults exist in Finland, they are not faults backed up by the threat of annihilation by tanks, or abuse and murder at the hands of deranged foreign soldiers.

OK. How about he just handles the Finnish Supreme Court? Or at least the fellow who raped the ten-year-old girl?

Putin is Hitler. What we need are the good men and women (of whatever country) to stand up to the Gay Nazis. Or the Muslim scum they have so willingly imported. (I assume this dog is Muslim.). As has been written in an article or two lately around the web (which, of course, proves me right), single women are the force driving this stuff. I would add that their influence is further enhanced by emasculated men.

In a few hours Passover will mark the formal beginning of Easter for Christians and for Jews another season of the celebration of freedom from slavery. The calendars often do not match so precisely. It must have been so some 2000 years ago when an obscure traveling teacher lifted Elijah’s Cup and changed history for millions who lived after him. In the same way G-d moved among the Egyptians over 3000 years ago and brought the idea of ordered freedom to the world.
We are the beneficiaries of the legacy left to us by men and women long gone, who strived for, and occasionally grasped liberty for themselves and their posterity. There are a great many things wrong in our world today. War, always a constant in human affairs, is raging in Europe and the threat of more war resides in Asia. Let us hope and pray that the next year will, in some part, bring new insight to human relations and peace for all who are in distress.

History is replete with tyrants who invade other lands, put down national movements and slaughter thousands of people for what are selfish and unjust reasons. I will not go into any detail as, if I put my mind to it, I could spend the rest of my life documenting such types. They are present in every period and on every continent except Antarctica. The Aztecs, Americans, Incas, Spanish, French, English, Germans, Italians, Poles, Ukranians, Serbs, Croats, Danes, Norwegians, Swedes, Arabs, Greeks, Persians, Ottomans, Russians, Zulus, Indians, Chinese, Japanese, Siamese and Burmans have all had their share of petty and not-so-petty tyrants, who have killed thousands upon thousands of people. And those examples come to me without having to think very much. I can give examples for each place I mentioned.
So far, Putin would fit into this run-of-the-mill tyrant. He is a bad man, but again, history is full of bad men, particularly those men who rule over others. In fact, the numbers of such men/tyrants is so large that nobody can recall all of their names, and few can name a fair number of them. I know of such men because I have lived around the world and studied history for over 65 years. More importantly, I pay attention.
Of all these tyrants, a special place is held by a few. Those who wantonly murdered so many in such vicious ways as to have their names burned upon the mind of humanity across the centuries. Those who belong to this group are relatively few, when compared with the evil which pervades humanity.
There are no doubt others, but a couple which have come down to us across the centuries are Genghis Khan and Tamerlane. Both came out of the Asia steppe, arose from bloody traditions and were followed by others who maintained the traditions. Attila the Hun is of a similar lineage.
There is Pol Pot who, with his Khmer Rouge disposed of about a quarter of the Cambodian population. 1.5 to 2 million is the estimate.
The Imperial Japanese war machine slaughtered up to 20 million Chinese. But like everything Japanese, the responsibility was spread. Most consider the big three to be Hitler, Stalin and Mao. I won't go into detail, but suffice it to say that each of these men had the blood of tens-of-millions on their hands. For reasons of history, (the Nazis lost) Hitler's name has become the preferred totem for many who wish to smear those they do not agree with. This has become so common that it has lost most of its effect. The habitual labeling by the left of conservatives as "like Hitler" is probably mainly responsible for this devaluing of the comparison.
This is a shame as Hitler truly was an evil person. Depending on whose research is correct, his acolytes murdered something like 5-6 million Jews plus numerous gypsies and other Untermenschen. Upwards of 50 million people died in Europe during WWII.
Now, I have long maintained that history has had multitudes of people equally as evil as Hitler, but these people were, for whatever reasons, not able to manifest their evil in the enormous way Hitler did. Happy, happy world for that.
So yes Putin is a bad man, but no, Putin is not even close to Hitler. We can only pray that he never comes close to approaching that demon's record.

When I was younger, there was always a bottle of slivovitz at every Passover. If you have some, drink a glass for me. The brand I remember best, but I had it while I lived in Europe.

Hitler, Grade B. Whatever. The man is indeed a tyrant. It's sort of embarrassing now to hear idiots such as Tucker Carlson and Trump praise the guy. Good god. As much as the Left infests our society we have to be very careful about who we take on as allies. And Putin is not an ally.
