An interesting article which, among other things, notes a point I have been telling people for decades. The Commies don't simply disappear. They are always with us. I repeated this many times in the early 1990's, after the fall of the USSR. People didn't seem to believe me.

Exactly! As I have pointed out several times here, left-wing Jews are often very very stupid as to who are and who aren't their friends. They seem to lack a connection to reality and certainly know little about history. The most glaring example of this is the old Soviet Union. Early on, Jews were heavily weighted in the Bolsheviks and Soviet security services. How did that work out for them? Idiots. 

I have tried to understand this phenomenon for years, and have not fully grasped it. 

I shall not. But let us first say, it is not our job to make fun of other people as a way to lift ourselves up. When a six-year-old child comes to you with a drawing of a giraffe and you can't for the life of you make out what it is, you say "That's nice. Good job."

That is not lying to yourself or to the child. It's an age-appropriate thing. But if we begin lying to ourselves as adults, or lying to adults, about important things, we loose our humanity. And just read a few of those comments to the article:

"Very photogenic." "Wow she is absolutely gorgeous."

Of particular note is the caption below one of the photos:



"Striking," maybe...if you were struck by an ugly stick. As they say: That person could have occupied an entire psychiatric conference. Although beauty is often in the eye of the beholder, etc, only truly sick people look at a dog turd and find beauty in it.

But look at how this article frames this guy. This is part of the cult of Lying to Yourself. No one truly thinks this weirdo's appearance is "striking" or "photogenic." They are lying to themselves. And this lie becomes ingrained to the extent that it warps their moral character because they can no longer distinguish between beautiful and ugly, good and bad, Israelis and Palestinians.

You can lie to the world and get by, but once you begin to believe your own lies you are finished. 

Came across this quote recently that discribes the modern leftist.

I'm 100% certain the Dennis Prager would commend this Leftist for his honesty. And he would say that such views are inherent to Leftism. They are inevitable. Progressivism tries to put a nice "Kumbaya" gloss over them, but that underlying and bedrock philosophy remains: Nothing means nothing. It's all just dead, meaningless matter.

I think at the end of the day, we are seeing a psychological phenomenon in this man. One need go no deeper than to observe that Professor Harari has no deep meaning in his life. Starved of that meaning, he goes searching for it (in all the wrong places) via annihilation of all meaning. He is the living, breathing example of the validity of the Reductio ad absurdum argument.

First off, depression is a very serious thing. But, I would add, you don't solve it by visiting a modern shrink who is invariably a woman and almost certainly incompetent to one degree or another in terms of fixing emotional issues. You'd be better to stay at home with a bottle of gin and light twenty-dollar bills on fire then waste your time and money on liberal quacks.

Anyone who has lived has suffered bouts of depression. And if the depression (for whatever reason) is chronic, that is indeed a reason for despair. And often it is simply a matter of diet and exercise...nothing more complicated than that. Is this woman fat and eating poorly? Would a "woke" chick (or soy-boy) shrink point out the mental issues such things can bring?

But there's something else going on if the following is the case:



This sounds more like a religious exercise in self-immolation...a branch of, and natural outcome of, the Cult of Death of the Left. For contrast (and I've read about many), there are Catholic saints who endured great physical discomfort and gave their pain to God as a means of devotion.

Maybe this is good. Maybe it isn't. But it's not the Cult of Death. Its the opposite. It's the doctrine of living as best one can with the hardships of life – making lemonade out of lemons, if you will. To tattoo an upside down tree on oneself shows a degree of premeditation that makes this seem more like she's living out a social-media post than her own life.

But then, the Dutch are committing cultural suicide, so I guess it's natural for the rest of this to follow.

Dr. Artler, I only live near the sewer. I don't wade it in. That is, I read about how people are thinking, acting, and living their lives according to the Hysterical Progressive Template (HPT). But I don't know actually what it is to live like that. But there is indeed a "live like that" aspect that is real.

As for rational thought, I'm mostly of the mind that the paradigm "garbage in, garbage out" is the active ingredient of Leftist thought. I don't suppose that most Leftists or Progressives are dumber than average (although the dogma does seem more attractive  to the obtuse). I simply believe that when you've been programmed with all the tenets of Leftism/Progressiveness, then people do then act more or less rationally based on what they believe.

If you believe that humans are destroying the earth, that there are too many people on the planet, that merely having children is somehow an environmental crime of sorts, that God is but a myth, that life is ultimately pointless, that men can be women and women can be men (ergo: anything can mean anything in a chaotic swamp of relativism), and especially that "I'm hysterical, therefore I am," then ending your life might seem like the rational thing to do.

But, yes, there's a point, as you certainly suggest, that if one lives with ephemeral emotion as one's guiding light, then you are anchored to nothing. There needs to be some kind of anchorage in facts, reality, and the rational. So combine "feelings over standards" (Prager) with a badly programmed mind (garbage in/garbage out) and you end up with people who are emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually set adrift in an ocean of mania.
