I was surprised at Trump's choice for Sec. Def., but after watching this 8 minute video I am encouraged. He understands what he is talking about.

I find this appointment very very encouraging. Trump is not only going to clean house in D.C., he is showing that he meant what he said about expanding his coalition. Now what position will RFK Jr. get?

This is an appointment I could do without. I am not an admirer of Rubio. He is too much the establishment Repukelican. But Trump does have to give some crumbs to the establishment.
One thing that is beginning to concern me is that Trump is poaching too many Reps and Senators thus reducing his power in the House and Senate. Yes, I know they are all from "secure" red seats, but he shouldn't get too cocky. If they lost a couple of seats in the House, his term would be finished as the Demonrats would immediately start the first of many impeachments.

This is exactly what I mean. I love Gaetz. I believe he is extremely effective and conservative. He is also the only (I believe) Congressman who does not take PAC money for his campaigns, only personal contributions. His nomination will make Demonrat heads explode. But he is another House member who will be needed to pass Trump's agenda.

I agree with this article. I am not only not a Noem fan, I dislike her and do not trust her at all. I truly don't understand why Trump chose her.

The whole new leadership of the Senate are a bunch of RINO establishmentarians. They are owned lock-stock-and-barrel by the military-industrial-intelligence-security-foreign-policy-finance-hightech-pharma-state complex. In other words by the plutocrats and these plutocrats have strong connections to China.

I know nothing about Hegseth. But first glance it appears were getting committed people, not RINOs. Pretty much. I don't know that the secretary of state is that much of an important position. He follows policy or he gets recalled. Oh, crap. My heart skipped a beat. I read that as "new DEI." I was thinking the same thing myself when earlier seeing a list of the nominees.

Ditto. I suppose Trump thinks she will do the kind of job he wants. But, yeah, if you can't stand up to the transgender mob, good luck standing up to various bureaucrats, military contractors, etc.

I was just watching part of some interview Trump did with some half-black fat guy (forget his name). And Trump mentioned that his greatest enemies may be from within.
Yep. There's merit to that idea. And I think the Senate will prove to be a bigger impediment than the Democrats or media.

Received.
So Dick Van Dyke would rather die than see four more years of Trump.I don't begrudge a person a party affiliation, per se. But there goes another childhood idol down the sewer of Leftist groupthink superiority politics. I should have had no doubts, but that includes Tom Hanks and Kevin Costner. And these guys play parts of the good-guy all-American. Dick, where were your threats of dying when Jews were being hassled by Hamas? I never heard, "I'm just glad I won't have to see four more years of Leftist hate." Crickets chirping. So, like I said, I don't begrudge someone their party affiliation. But this ranges far beyond that. This is the ongoing fascist-like liberal delusion that they are The Righteous. And so much so that life is just no longer worth living if people think differently than they do.

Things are getting weird when I'm agreeing with George Clooney: It was pretty apparent that Trump would have absolutely crushed Biden. It was a rational choice (from a party standpoint) to urge him to step aside for someone else. Of course, we must be up front and point out that urging Biden out of the race had zero to do with our nation's health or well being. They didn't care if he was half brain-dead. They just wanted to beat Trump. Hell, no. It's just interesting to see this leftist wacko at least partially understand that he is surrounded by other leftist wackos and this creates a force called Irrational Mindless Chaos. Yeah, I'd want out of that too, George. Bend your knee to Trump and immediately half of the nation (over half) will like you again….or at least stop sticking pins in your doll.

The LA Times is firing their entire editorial board because they are "out of touch.' Okay, that's something. What bothers me, though, (including that Frank Luntz focus-group article I read elsewhere), is that it seems that people can see a gigantic, pink, farting, shitting, smelly, 12-foot-tall elephant in the room that is stomping all over their furniture. That's fine. But the real problem is that 99% of these people can in no way detect bias even at just 50% of elephant strength. Conservatives can detect it like a scanning electron microscope can detect a peanut. But most can't. And that's the problem. Fine, I'm really glad that if an elephant shits on your shoes that you can notice. But when a gorilla pisses in your cornflakes, you take no notice. These people have to hone their radar so that they're not having someone drilling large holes in the lifeboat only to have to notice later that, "Gee...those people with the drills and bores really should be tossed off the boat." It's way better to catch this stuff while you are still safely afloat. ----- Here's a decent essay at American Thinker about safe spaces, etc. It links to this article as a suggested (and long) read. ----- "It's like the whole country transitioning, but we're getting our balls back." – Greg Gutfield ----- Boo hoo. Let that part of the world burn. National Review is up in arms about abortion-advocate RFK Jr.'s appointment to the department that they say controls one in four federal dollars. I think Trump will keep Robert more or less between the rails. I think they must have some kind of overall agreement. But as far as I'm concerned, let RFK Jr. go into that place with a blowtorch. ----- The Hitlerian narrative exploding in their faces. Poor babies. ----- If one is a strong advocate of the Democrat Party, one's moral and wisdom are already tarnished and deeply in question. However, even Kool-aid drinkers of the left can say something true now and again, such as Fetterman: Note: The snake-in-the-grass, Bill Maher, is, post-election, shown to be just another leftist whacko in some comments and a video that I saw recently. As the article stated, if Bill Maher criticizes his own, it's because he wants them to win, not because he suddenly is having conservative thoughts about things. I think a lot of people have the wrong idea about Maher. He still remains a snake in the grass.

Vespa: This is dependent, of course, on following through on campaign promises and continuing the MAGA movement and making sure it isn't taken over by the Mitt Romney types. But the outlook is hopeful. People out there are weary of being abused by the Democrats. But they won't automatically vote Republican unless they are courted. Strong and gutsy leadership is required. A lot of people, including myself, are expecting Trump to go into autopilot mode now that he's won the election. Don't be surprised if he does. However, from some of his cabinet picks, it would appear he is more serious about being an ideological president this time around. They took shots at him. Good god, if he doesn't know who the enemy is and what they are about, he never will. Let's hope. ----- Of all his nominees, RFK Jr. is my favorite, with Marco Rubio a close second. (Reportedly Lara Trump would take his place, although I've not heard the lastest on this. If true, rather than robbing the Senate of someone, this would be switching for someone better.) RFK Jr. is the fly in the ointment. He's the bull in the liberal china shop. He in no way aligns with MAGA in regards to 90% of the stuff. But he will be useful at DHHS. And he need do no more than be a reminder to all the sick Democrats (and their voters) out there that they have moved so far left that we can find common cause with even a Kennedy. But I do expect RFK Jr. to be effective. One commenter answers the obvious bit of idiocy in the above:

I was never a fan of Van Dyke. In fact I disliked his style of humor very much. How lucky am I that my favorite actors were, generally, conservatives and if not conservative at least not mentally ill?

Yes, I just read an article today that was speculating that he would be chosen. Apparently he was the choice of RFK, Jr. and it’s a bit of payback because he was one of the guys gaslighted and lied about when he was trying to bring sanity to the KFF.
